Hi guys...i´ve got a nes from a friend, and it seems it is not working...
Whenever I turn it on, i get a white screen. It doesn´t matter if there is a cartridge on the slot...it gives the white screen even if its empty.
I saw some videos on youtube, and i think the power led was suposed to blink...but goes on and stay that way...
I opened the console and cleaned the pin contacts with a piece of paper...but it didn´t work.
Any ideas?

Re: NES White Screen + Not Blinking...
Sounds like the lock-out pin is snipped, but the cartridge slot/cartridge/motherboard connection pins are corroded/dirty. I've cut the lockout pin on my NES, and switched out the 72-pin connector, but it will still give me hell by showing me a grayish screen. I usually just have to shift the cartridge around in the slot a bit, and keep hitting the reset button, or clean the cartridge pins.

Yeah if it's white/gray screening you your lockout pin is snipped, which by all means is fine. I did it to my own console.
And you need a cart in it for it to do anything...of course you get a blank screen if theres no cart in it.
What I would do is look up on youtube how to take your NES apart. You need to clean your pins better or if they are corroded like pierrot said then you might need to replace them all together.
It's pretty easy to take an NES apart, I mean I did it when I knew jack about fixing an NES. You just need a few basic things that you should have laying around the house.

Yes, look up on YouTube how to clean the pins. Just be sure to ONLY use rubbing alcohol or electrical contact cleaner. Do not use Windex or stove cleaner or whatever other hairbrain idea some one had.GirlGamer55 wrote:What I would do is look up on youtube how to take your NES apart. You need to clean the console's pins and also each and every cart you play. If you have many carts, it'll be a lot easier if you open them up to clean them. Most NES carts have a security screw that you need a special bit for (old carts just need a small flat head screwdriver to open). I highly recommend getting the security bit so you can open the carts. You'll be able to clean them much easier, much faster, and a whole lot better too.
