Best and Worst One-Time deals

Post by the7k »

This is a topic about those random deals that you just by sheer dumb luck happened upon, or ones that seemed to be awesome but turned out not quite so much. I'm mainly talking about Flea Markets, Pawn Shops, etc., but online venues and chain stores are just as valid. Wanted to start this up because I just got the Genesis deal described below yesterday, and I love hearing about people who manage to find Valkyrie Profile at a pawn shop for $5.

The Good
Final Fantasy VII, mint condition = $35.
Sega Genesis lot with two Model 2 systems, one brand new, a Game Genie, and about 20 games, half in original packaging = $43. (Half games are crap, but good ones include Sonic 2, Earthworm Jim, X-Men, Aladdin, Lion King, Samurai Shodown, Mortal Kombat II and Street Fighter II.)

The Bad
Three Dirty Dwarves = $20. Sounded good, but when I got it home I found the disc was scratched to hell and back, and flea markets have a shifty return policy.
Super Metroid w/ complete packaging = $20. Got it home, and it instead contained Pitfall.

I also have friends who have found Breath of Fire IV and Final Fantasy Tactics for $5 a piece.

FF7 in excellent Condition = $5....hahaha! Seriously!
RE2 $5

Probably the best score ever:

22 mega drive games, 10 sega CD games, Parasite Eve 2, Crash Bandicoot 2, Tenchu 2 and a master system 2 + controller, all in awesome condition...for $20...

Worst scores...Hmmm....
Honestly I can't think of anything...
The worst thing about collecting is dry runs! I haven't been able to find anything in weeks!!!

The problem with that advice is that the "quit it" portion of the process becomes much more complicated after the "hit it" maneuver has been completed. Much easier to "quit it" before all else.
