Seriously.. The game is fun, but nothing mind-blowing. It's more of a novelty, really, like Castlevania Judgment, or the iPhone exclusive Castlevania: Puzzle of the Night - not the kind of game you'd expect to see in the franchise, but it's not canonical so it's enjoyable for what it is.Gunstar Green wrote:You're not missing much.foxhound1022 wrote:

Also, as pierrot said, it's also on the PS3.

oh man I found Super Castlevania IV at a yard sale today for less than a buck. Unless I find a SNES at a yard sale, I won't get to play this until the Retron 5 comes out. But still. Hopefully I can get a box/manual for it without remortgaging.

You don't have a SNES? That's disgraceful.noiseredux wrote:oh man I found Super Castlevania IV at a yard sale today for less than a buck. Or maybe he just has better taste in 16-bit consoles.foxhound1022 wrote:

I'm just kidding, the console wars are over and we all won.

Ever since Lords of Shadow dropped, (and Dave Cox cited SCVIV as a major influence,) prices for it seem to have blown up. You can see CIB copies on eBay sell for as low as 30, or as high as 120 - but for whatever reason, there doesn't seem to be any stable economy for this game.noiseredux wrote:oh man I found Super Castlevania IV at a yard sale today for less than a buck. When hunting for a manual, be absolutely sure you track down the color manual, as SCVIV had a second Majesco printing - complete with B&W manual and flushed-out colors on the box. As with all Majesco runs of this generation, the values are about a third of what the original Konami run will command.
With Lords of Shadow 2 right around the corner, and being cited by critics as a "Game to watch" this holiday season, expect Super Castlevania's value to climb, along with most of the series' other entries, as there will no doubt be new fans looking to collect the back catalog.

I heard about that over the weekend... so now I'm conflicted as to if I want to play it on my new-ish 3DS, or just wait for a console release. :\graffix_13 wrote:Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Mirror of Fate coming to consoles! So far, the HD console release is digital only. So if you want a hard copy - 3DS all the way.noiseredux wrote:I heard about that over the weekend... so now I'm conflicted as to if I want to play it on my new-ish 3DS, or just wait for a console release. :\graffix_13 wrote:Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Mirror of Fate coming to consoles! I'm curious to see if they add anything to it aside form crisper visuals. A few more levels, maybe, or at least a new chapter...

I'm not sure - I've read a couple things that make it sound like it will be on the disc of the PS3/360 re-release of LOS:Rurouni_Fencer wrote: So far, the HD console release is digital only. So if you want a hard copy - 3DS all the way.
...another site had mentioned it being listed as part of a pre-order product listing that also mentions the inclusion. Now that doesn't prove that the game is ON the disc, as of course we could later find out it's just DLC with the disc.joystiq.com wrote:3DS Castlevania entry Mirror of Fate takes flight in HD to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network on October 31, and also features in a Lords of Shadow collection released on the same day.
