Which Genesis Games Still Matter?

Post by racketboy »

This question might be a little harder to answer as classic gaming aficionados, but what games for this system do you think are still worth playing to the average gamer?

Things to consider:
Has the game been ported/enhanced on a newer system?
Has a newer game in the same genre made it obsolete?
Does the graphics limit it?
How well have the graphics aged?
Is there something unique about the game?

Let me know what game for the console you think are still relevant in today's gaming market.

I will start off by nominating...
Gunstar Heroes
Sonic the Hedgehog series
Ristar

But I know there are more -- I just want to hear from you...

I played the PC version of Comix Zone and it was competent. I would expect the same to actually hold true for Sonic and Ecco ports?

I tried it on a Windows 95 machine, as well as a Windows XP machine. On both of them, the game sucked. Ran slow, sound effects were off sync, buggy in windowed mode, fullscreen mode didn't exist, music quality sucked.
