Man the playing on the couch argument is the strongest argument there is for consoles in my opinion. I have been getting an ever growing PC game collection, but the drive to play them is dropping because I would much rather just sit on the couch. I have to at some point get a much more comfortable office chair probably.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:I'm playing through The Witcher 2 on Xbox 360 even though I own the PC version, and have a PC capable of cranking the visuals up to max. I don't know why, but, it just feels better to play it on a couch. I really do find that, unless I'm playing a multiplayer game, I tend to prefer consoles. I love multiplayer games though, so I end up playing on my PC most of the time.

A lot of PC games (including The Witcher 2) can be played with a controller and most modern video cards will output HDMI 1080P + sound. In fact, this is how I recently played through The Witcher 2.

Some of them are anyway. Shinobi is pretty bad.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Tengen games were awesome though!!!
I also always wondered why their port of Fantasy Zone is worse than the Famicom version. Could they just not do a straight port for some reason?

Sure! But, I'm not running a cable accross my room just for the few games I'd want to play on the couch.Stark wrote:A lot of PC games (including The Witcher 2) can be played with a controller and most modern video cards will output HDMI 1080P + sound. Older. Not wiser.

Ah, well for me "a few games" was most of them, so it was worth it. But yeah it's definitely an effort to get it set up.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Sure! Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I don't get this. I have much more console games than PC games (though I have access to an almost infinite library of games on my PC if I wanted). I can maybe play 2-3 hours on a console before getting distracted and going back to my PC. Most of my console gaming sessions are 30-50 mins before taking a break. But on my PC I can game for 8+ hours with out needing the feel to take a break (anything more major than getting soda or going to the toilet, or checking my mail or this forum which takes like 3-4 minutes anyways). I play less PC games, but I feel more immersed in them, while with console gaming I never focus on one game too long. I can also game for much longer on a single sitting with a handheld than on consoles. Handhelds are godly for RPGs.BogusMeatFactory wrote: Man the playing on the couch argument is the strongest argument there is for consoles in my opinion. I think the thing about many console games is that you have limited save points, but with many PC games and in many handhelds you can save and quit whenever you want. You'd think that would keep my handheld and PC gaming sessions longer, but in reality I play those games a lot longer, where as with console games I often play the game from a save point to another and quit. I've also noticed in some PC RTS and strategy games where a single campaign/map/level is 30 minutes - 1½ hours, I always play one campaign and then quit.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I totally understand. I tend to get more value and overall enjoyment from PC games. I think my issue is related more to comfort than anything. If I had a super comfy chair, oh man the hours I would spend... hours that I still do spend playing games like Fallout: New Vegas or The Sims 3 on the PC, just with crappy chair!Menegrothx wrote:I don't get this. Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
There's not that much difference between PC games and console games these days, so I'm not sure why you're getting more enjoyment from sitting in front of a computer instead of a TV. Here's a list of PC games I have on the burner right now:
-Dishonored
-Sleeping Dogs
-Skyrim
-Fallout: New Vegas
-Borderlands 2
-DmC
Anything stand out? All available on console, they just look better on the PC and that's about it.

To me there is the angle of sitting close to the screen with an appropriate FOV/etc. It's easier to focus on things.

Big couch/bed is allways better than a chair, luckily i use my laptop for gaming so i can play on the bedStark wrote:There's not that much difference between PC games and console games these days, so I'm not sure why you're getting more enjoyment from sitting in front of a computer instead of a TV.
