I'm finally sorting all of my games into a spreadsheet that someone on here put a link to (forgot their name) and one of the columns is country. Well GB games have a nice little USA, UKV or so on right on the side of the label. GG games...don't. As far as I can see.
I have purple boarder labels, black border labels and blown up pictures with no boarder labels and not a damn clue to where they came from. All seem to be in english but that could also be from the UK. Some have ratings, some don't.
I looked it up and the only thing I could find was someone asking about how to tell the GG box regions. I will say that I think the purple boarder labeled ones with the big rating on it must be a USA game. The others I am not sure on.

Early US and UK games look similar.
They went quite different later on, purple border is US.
Early JP games have a red GG logo. Later ones use the red border or Kids Gear.
Tectoy games are Brazil.
There's bootlegs too. May have poorly printed/drawn labels without proper logos, even non-Sega cart shells.
