I have the Sega Genesis Collection on PS2 which doesn't seem to include Space Harrier.
It's not on Sega Genesis Collection, it's on Sega Classics.

The version of Space Harrier included on SUGC is the arcade version.

Time for me to get 1,500,000 points in the first level of Super Thunder Blade then. Thanks!

 I was thinking the same thing. I wonder how challenging that is for a guy who's never played Super Thunder Blade?

I've been playing the game since launch, and it seems impossible even to me. I'll have to do the "hover and shoot everything" style of play.

The amount of Sega compilations is too damn high! And none of them contain the same games.

I'll have to do the "download save file from GameFAQs" style of play.

Set the difficulty to hard mode, fly into the top right or top left corner, holding diagonally into the corner. Shoot endlessly.

You should be totally invulnerable here until the mid boss, which you can dodge easily by flying in circles. Then do the corner thing again until you get to the overhead section which is much easier than the usual perspective. You should hit 1,500,000 during this bit.

Takes about 10 minutes, no difficulty whatsoever.
