^^^This x 1000

Nothing like crawling underneath a car only to realize what size socket/wrench you need is in metric.

We measure temperature in Celsius, petrol and most drinks in Litres and most produce in grams and kilograms .

However, we measure our height in feet and our weight in stone, all of our road signs are in miles and our beer and cider comes in pints.
I remember in GTA Vice City Stories one of the radio talk show hosts talked how a civilization that uses stones for measuring weight can't be very advanced or something like that, it's not all that different from pounds but I found it funny nonetheless

EDIT

Metric sytem, Europe....nay, the entire world outside the US, rules 8)
Agreed. I hate it so much.
Unfortunately this what our school system teaches us by default and it's hard to overcome it as an adult. I remember back when I was in school they tried to change it up and teach us the metric system. Basically a lot of our teachers said "No way! This is 'Murica! We're not teaching our students that crap!". Either that or the parents got angry... Either way it was stupid and we stuck with learning feet, inches and miles. I still have a hard time measuring in metrics, because my brain defaults to inches and feet. :/
That's interesting. My brain defaults to metric, but that's because I spent years as a track & field athlete and coach. The only time I think in miles rather than kilometers is when driving.

I used to teach the metric system to fifth graders. They'd be very confused at first and then eventually it hit them.... this is so much easier than the English system!

My foot is a foot. Makes measuring for carpet easy.

One can almost tolerate the Imperial system but why, just why do you use those funky paper sizes? Aggghghghghghghghghghghg.

You are like the only ones in the world that use random sizes for no apparent reason.

Louisiana schools suck. Especially the ones out in the middle of nowhere.
I remember the class they introduced us to the metric system. The teacher basically said: "You guys aren't ever going to use this stuff anyway. Here's a meter stick. A kilometer is like a mile but longer. The End". It wasn't ever brought up again until 8th grade Science class and none of the students knew wtf the teacher was talking about.

All right, here's something I envy about the US.

YOU HAVE ALL THE COOL CONS. I WOULD KILL FOR SOMETHING LIKE GENCON.

Seriously, I wish I were rich and could fly there because there's so much I wanted to do there. You have a huge Netrunner tournament, I could ask the Fortress: Ameitrash guys to teach me how to play Dune, I would meet my fellow writers from Snackbar Games and probably some of you guys will go there too.

All we have here are "Meme workshops" :(

Wow, your teacher really did suck. A kilometre is shorter than a mile. Its roughly 5 miles to 8 kilometres.

Also, handing you a metre stick was pretty pointless too, as a metre is almsot exactly as long as a yard.

The only measurement I ever struggle with, imperial or metric, is fahrenheit. I know how much a kilogram or a pound is, I know how long a foot or a metre is, I know how much liquid is in a pint or a litre - but tell me the temperature in fahrenheit and I haven't got a clue what you're on about.

Rest assured, we are not all Louisiana at the very least.

Seriously that teacher probably drives to work every day in a car that has the "km/h" numbers on its speedometer somewhere and he still got it wrong.
