You had someone arguing for mandatory prayer in schools, of any form? Honestly, I'm very surprised. That girl has guts, if nothing else.BogusMeatFactory wrote:In Government class today, there was a heated discussion with a student over mandatory Christian prayer in schools.
She was of the firm belief that there should be mandatory participation in Christian prayer in every public school and found nothing wrong with it, that it would cause exclusion or prejudice based off of a differing religion. Even though she stated she was a Buddhist, she felt it was a good thing and nothing bad could come of that.
She would not listen to reason under any account, which was incredibly frustrating. This also comes from the woman who is of the firm belief that women are inherently inferior to men in every capacity. We ran through the list of tasks even on the sexist side of cooking cleaning and child rearing, she stated men were more capable than women in those fields.
Although, I do question her belief in Christian style prayer as a Buddhist, as the majority of Buddhists deny any form of creationist God, so it seems really odd she would say that. I could see her supporting a time for meditation or prayer as a person chooses, but its weird for her to argue that.
And her belief about women being inferior would not do much more than to piss many women off.
