Yeah your getting the same stuff I am...basicly jack all lol. idk how your PS3 would have the same issue but thanks?

I just want to play games without all my shit going to hell on me, first the PS3 has heating issues, then my TV has sound issues and now this...what's next -.-..I think tech just dies around me.

Well I have a backwards compatible PS3 with the most recent firmware so I can either
A) Try to replicate the problem
or
B) Look for something you missed

But I don't have to help :P

All I could see to double check

In PS3 mode go to settings and then reassign controllers. Make sure that says it is controller 1.

When you boot up the PS2 game leave the controller synced and unplugged. It should turn fully off and as soon as it does (or wait about a second) press the home button to resync it. If when you boot up the Ps2 game it just starts flashing the controller isn't switching off to be recognized as a Dualshock 2 correctly.

Ok...I did that but when I unplugged it, it won't sync up even on the menu...it just keeps flashing.

So...do I need a new controller because mines...idk messed up?

Now it won't even sync on the PS3 menu? Yeah either your console bluetooth is out or the controller is dying.

Oh it works if I keep it plugged in all the time...on the menu that is. If I unplug it to do what you said, it won't sync at all. I know it used to be able to sync unplugged but it's been years since I unplugged it and used it like that.

So if it stays plugged in...the controller could still be working...but maybe the bluetooth is dead?

Actually that makes me remember something, when I was taking the PS3 apart I had to deal with those damn ribbon wires...I'm sure I plugged the Blu Ray one back in correctly because otherwise I couldn't play games...right? But the one for the bluetooth board...ugh that was a bitch to plug back in...I might not have plugged it back in correctly. Could that be doing this? Even though it works fine plugged into the USB cable (except this PS2 game issue of course)?

Yeah if a ribbon cable isn't seated right that could be the problem or the controller itself could be have the issue alone. If you can borrow another controller or something else bluetooth try and connect that with the console to eliminate either.

All right so I went in, popped the ribbon out and then put it back in, put it back together and worked like a charm, guess I need to double check connections next time.

Thanks for trying to help me, people who tried to help lol.
