Indeed, if you get a 9000 series unit you'll need Swap Magic for shenanigans as FMCB isn't guaranteed to work with them. Also if you order a 7000 series from Amazon you'll end up likely getting a 9000 (new in box all the same). For some reason Amazon uses the same SKU for all the black Slims IME.

Actually looking for a 50001 fat model as well. Whatever I kind find really cheap is the one im going to get (50001 fat or 9000x slim). Not in a big rush to get one, so I am going to keep my eyes open and snatch a cheap on like a hawk.

Actually found a friend of mine who is going to sell me his PS2 Slim 77001 for $20 bucks with a controller and power adapter. It was not the model I was looking for, but 77001 for 20 is a pretty sweet deal. It will do. At the least, I can play my old and already owned games.
