If it keeps the prices down, then it is perfectly fine with me!Violent By Design wrote:It's hard getting it any respect amongst typical gamer crowds though. Any time I mention the Xbox has good games people just say like what, and I can't really reply since no one would know what games I am referencing.

Re: OG Xbox recommendations
If you asked me what the most underrated system out there was, I'd say the Wii. But if you asked me what the second most underrated system is, I'd say the OG Xbox for sure. Yes the OG Xbox had plenty of multiplatform AAA releases, sports and racing titles, and of course freaking Halo. But there were so many weirdo underdog exclusive games on that console which most gamers didn't even know about during its time, let alone nowadays. Definitely an excellent system for the budget gamer to get into. I literally own over 150 Xbox games (and that's after selling off dozens to slim it down), and I spent an average of only $7 per game. And all of those were CIB.

I dont think I could ever call a Nintendo system underrated (unless someone thought really highly of the Virtual Boy, then that'd be the exception
).
Well, I'll contradict myself. Nintendo systems are underrated, but no where near most underrated to me. Sega consoles are generally more underrated across the board, even if you like them or not, most people have never dived deep into any Sega console (even the Genesis when you think about it).

I don't mean underrated insofar as units sold. I mean underrated insofar as having its library respected. There are quite a few people who think the Wii has nothing but waggly shovelware to offer outside of first party Nintendo developed games, and that's just not the truth of the matter. There are many exclusive games for the system that are of excellent value. And just the same I think the OG Xbox has the same issue going on. The OG Xbox was known for FPS, racing and sports games primarily, but there's lots of great esoteric stuff for the system. Much of which has already been mentioned in this thread thankfully.

I really enjoyed Conker: Live & Reloaded, which is a remake of the original.
Light-hearted, fun game, and the original was one of the first games to have fully 3D animated characters that did lip-sync animation.

Give it a couple years and everybody will be talking about how great the Wii is. Look at how the GameCube is admired nowadays. Why the same hasn't been true for the Xbox, i dont know. Maybe it's because there's more of an established hardcore Nintendo fanbase as opposed to Microsoft?Exhuminator wrote:I don't mean underrated insofar as units sold. Re: OG Xbox recommendations
I'd recommend the two KUF games.
Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes
Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders
They were both exclusive to the Xbox. I haven't finished them yet, but they are a fairly unique fusion of console RTS and 3D action combat. Soundtrack has some sweet riffs too.
Challenging and fun.
Also, while not my favorite Castlevania, I enjoyed Curse of Darkness. Had some great tracks too.
