Ack has probably seen most of these, but I could not resist the exercise...
A 1970s horror film - Horror Express
A 1980s horror film - The House of the Devil (It wasn't actually made in the 1980s, but it is nonetheless my favorite "1980s" horror film.)
A 1990s horror film - Anaconda
An obscure slasher film - Alice Sweet Alice
A haunted house film - Castle of Blood
A scifi/horror film - Quartermass & The Pit
A foreign horror film - Jigoku
A cannibal film - Cannibal! The Musical
A giallo film that leans heavy on horror - Hatchet for the Honeymoon
A zombie film - Jesus Camp
A cult classic - Birdemic: Shock & Terror
A Lovecraftian horror film - The Resurrected
Another exploitation film of some kind -

The only other one I have seen is Cannibal Holocaust <yawn> so it is the only thing I could recommend.noiseredux wrote:Good call, can't believe I forgot that.A cannibal film - Cannibal! The Musical
I also just realized that I have not listed an exploitation film...I will try to fix that soon.

Night of the Demons for the 1980s horror film. So good, and I never hear it mentioned. Cool death scenes, great make-up effects, dark atmosphere, and intense scenes. It also has a great an 80s feel to it. And I love the connecting opening and closing scenes.

And for the 1970s film, if you like Zombie flicks, check out the movie simply titled "Zombie". It's overlooked among the original zombie craze of Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and Return of the Living Dead. A little low-budget, but quite memorable. Especially the shark vs. zombie scene.

I mentioned it a page ago!BurningDoom wrote:Night of the Demons for the 1980s horror film. So good, and I never hear it mentioned. I LOVE Night of the Demons. I watch it every October. Insanely underrated movie. Creepy atmosphere, awesome deaths, Linnea Quigley, kick ass soundtrack...
The sequels are decent as well, and I found the remake surprisingly awesome.
Good call! If Ack hasn't seen this, he should. Zombie is amazing (and originally released as Zombie II and meant as the Italian sequel to Dawn of the Dead which was known simply as "Zombie" in Italy*).And for the 1970s film, if you like Zombie flicks, check out the movie simply titled "Zombie". *the same thing happened in Italy with The Evil Dead. In Italy Evil Dead 1 & 2 were known as La Casa and La Casa 2. Eventually a bunch of sequels came out in Italy under the La Casa ("The House") name. Though marketed as sequels there, these were generally just low budget haunted house films and had nothing to do with Evil Dead. There's 5 sequels in Italy if I recall correctly, and most have been released in the US (in fact some of them were originally US releases). Some others off the top of my head were Witchery, Ghosthouse, House II... I actually made an effort to see all of them at a point, and am planning to own them all eventually. Even though they have nothing to do with Evil Dead, I still have this weird interest in them because of the unofficial sequel status.
EDIT:
La Casa is a series of Italian horror films that rebranded various American horror films. They include:
La Casa (film) aka The Evil Dead
La Casa 2 aka Evil Dead II
La Casa 3 aka Ghosthouse
La Casa 4 aka Witchery (film)
La Casa 5 aka Beyond Darkness
La Casa 6 aka House II: The Second Story
La Casa 7 aka The Horror Show
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Night of the Demons looks to be a definite one for me, and I've been hearing about Zombie for years (it is the film with the eyeball impaling scene, right?), so this would be a good time to check it out. I've seen the likes of Cannibal! The Musical.noiseredux wrote:I mentioned it a page ago!BurningDoom wrote:Night of the Demons for the 1980s horror film. So good, and I never hear it mentioned. Didn't something similar happen here in the US with the House series, Noise? As I recall, House III is The Horror Show, and it's completely unrelated to House, House II, and House IV. I've only seen House and House IV, though I need to give it a rewatch.
To some of the other examples, I've been looking for Quartermass and the Pit for several years. Any idea how I can find it? It's saved in my Netflix Queue since they apparently don't have it, along with films like Shivers, Hickey & Boggs, The Robot, and Le Dernier Combat.
I suppose I ought to also fill out my list with suggestions for others. I'll expand it, since I originally asked it of others.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Yes... it is a bit confusing. But yeah, so La Casa 6 is House II and La Casa 7 is House III. Except House III was released in the US as Horror Show. And then House IV came out, even though there was no House III (in title) in the US.Ack wrote: Didn't something similar happen here in the US with the House series, Noise? It's tough to call House a series anyway. I mean even II has little to do with the first. II is insane. It's basically an over-the-top comedy. But again, it's interesting that two of the House movies ended up considered part of the La Casa series as well.
