There is some reasoning for it I recall hearing but don't remember why. Classrooms are air conditioned. It is nearly as hot in sept do I dont think it matters much.dsheinem wrote:Yeah, It is pretty variable. I know some high schools start after Labor Day (early September). I know if/when we got a lot of snow days we'd sometimes get close to a July dismissal. It's even more variable at the college level...AppleQueso wrote:
vacation starts late-May to mid-June, ends mid-late August.
John, what kind of cruel Texas school sends their students into a classroom for the bulk of that oppressive August heat? Shouldn't they be one of the "start as late as possible" states?

I know that a lot of places further up north don't really use air conditioning, but I don't really know if that applies in Pennsylvania. Might be the cause for confusion, but I don't know. I do know that all the guys from my school are hating 2-A-Days for football right now because of the heat. Screw that.Jmustang1968 wrote:There is some reasoning for it I recall hearing but don't remember why. Classrooms are air conditioned. But of course, seeing as I've lived down here all my life, I'm a person who can walk around in 100 degree plus Fahrenheit weather wearing jeans and a western shirt with the sleeves rolled up.

I think its just kind of a thing of how you were raised, I never even owned a pair of shorts until I got some for athletics when I was 12 or 13. I still feel under dressed going anywhere wearing shorts, and my legs are ghostly white. And I'm a guy who sweats band, but I still wear some hot ass clothing options considering.AppleQueso wrote:^Fuck that, I've never lived outside of Texas and if its in the 90s I'm staying indoors.

I was only in Texas for about 5 months and I got used enough to the weather that 90 didn't even feel hot anymore.AppleQueso wrote:^Fuck that, I've never lived outside of Texas and if its in the 90s I'm staying indoors.

Were you on a watch list? Are they just trying to keep you off the streets?Fragems wrote:: The county prosecutor office just offered me an internship. Hadn't found one on my own yet and they ended up contacting me themselves
. I start next Monday.
Seriously, though, congratulations on the internship! I spent some time in a public defender's office, and it was a very interesting, eye-opening experience. I hope that you enjoy it, and you will get some great experience if you are considering a career in either law or law enforcement.
