Well component is much easier to use on PS2.
Same pinout for 15khz or 31khz. No DVD green screen.
PS2 basically doesn't care whether a SCART, VGA, or component cable is inserted.
It'll attempt output regardless how alien the result.
Wii takes a converter for VGA. Not built in.

Would Wii VGA still be better then?theclaw wrote:Well component is much easier to use on PS2.

Anyways, yeah I think I may just stay with Component PS2, as long as it can produce an image like the 1080i picture of a Final Fantasy game through GS Mode Selector:

Re: Best Video Connections
No idea, never used either. Wii VGA could be useful if your TV component input is worse than its VGA input.
Not very interested in GS Mode Selector. Messing with graphic options bores me.

Well I am, that and forcing Widescreen on games that don't support it.

Does that also include an XRGB-mini?AppleQueso wrote:XRGB on the other hand chokes up when you switch ps2 games to 480p.

via RGB, yeah. It's all to do with the sync-on-green. There are ways however that you can strip the sync off of the green and just give it a "normal" RGB signal, and 480p will work fine then. Certain circuits, certain hardware between the ps2 and XRGB, etc.BitFaced wrote:Does that also include an XRGB-mini?AppleQueso wrote:XRGB on the other hand chokes up when you switch ps2 games to 480p.
480p works fine with ps2 on the XRGB-mini if you're using component video, so it's not really a huge problem.

What about anything abov 480p through GS Mode Selector?AppleQueso wrote:via RGB, yeah. It's all to do with the sync-on-green. Via component you should be fine I'd think.BitFaced wrote: What about anything abov 480p through GS Mode Selector?

Re: Best Video Connections
I always liked my systems output to be non-modded and native outputs. I really would not like going through the process of modding the console and buying converters and scalers.
I was a little confused with the Sega Genesis for model II on this guide. I always thought the best non-modded output would be the standard AV (Red, white, and yellow cable).
But it looks like you could use RGB unmodded? I'm guessing it requires some converter box that does for around 40-50 dollars?
Awesome guide btw!

Same here, which is why I wrote the guide this way.sp957 wrote:I always liked my systems output to be non-modded and native outputs. I really would not like going through the process of modding the console and buying converters and scalers.

Yes, for most Americans, composite is the best you're gonna get without expensive hardware, but then this wouldn't be "Best Video Connections", would it? :3
I just made this as an absolute reference for best, one day I might expand it a bit to cover all possible outputs from a console. Or more realistically, all unmodded outputs, and then the best mods.
