Broken PS3 purchased today, help required

Post by Crynox »

Hi,

Today I bought my first ever PS3, for only £5!

Its a fat and is broken. I plugged it in and it beeped 3 times, the Green light turned to yellow then red.

Whats wrong with it ?

Can anyone help ?

Is it fixable ?

There IS a permanent fix for it. It's usually a chip seating issue. The fix isn't fun to do yourself, and taking it to a place that has a reballer will cost $100 ish. But that still isn't a bad deal.

However, there might be other issues like dead components. It really depends on when it gives the beeping and flash light.

But it can be fixed, it'll just cost you a little. (FYI, a personal reballing machine is like $600, so it's really much better to try to find a place that can do it for you. You may want to look up the die for PS3 chips though.)

Just go to you local repair shop and get a diagnostic and If you thinks it's economical, go for it.
