Complaints About the Forum?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I personally don't have a problem with the political/religious threads, but I think still think we need a general gaming section and keep the whatever section for everything none gaming. That way there is more organization and we keep the political/religion threads separate. 2 birds 1 stone.

No need to sort the backlog. Just monitor the active threads in Whatever and punt them to the appropriate area. I don't really think we're having a lot of instances of people wanting to restart old threads from Whatever.

that's not true I brought some threads back from the dead...though there were some who didn't like it.

The funny thing is, the Whatever section is where everyone goes with over half the content in the forum... even when game related and fits in another forum. Most likely because the Whatever section tends to get the most action, so a new thread there has a better chance of action.

I have a feeling splitting that up, it'll just turn into yet another Whatever section as it is now, and the Whatever gaming section dead except for threads moved there.

Every so often when I see a thread here in Whatever that is extremely easy to stick into another forum category I move it... and they generally piddle out almost immediately after.

It would be nice if all the mods could come to a general concesus on it and possibly slowly work it out to clean up whatever so that it is really "whatever" and not "whatever and relevant gaming". Personally I find our small community is getting so active that if I leave for a day this section is bloated with tons of new posts.

I hate you all, and want you to die. Otherwise the forums are fine.

BTW, if you want to get around a firewall, the best thing to do is install Cygwin SSH. Then set up a proxy to an ssh server you have at home. All it takes is 'ssh -D 12345 username@yourbox'. Then set your browser to use a socks proxy at 127.0.0.1:12345. In firefox set 'network.proxy.socks_remote_dns' to true to have it send DNS requests through the proxy too. That's it.

This trick is also important whenever you're sharing a wireless connection. You can probably do this with putty too, but I haven't tried.

I can access other gaming-related sites like mobygames and pcenginefx. Just not this one.
I have a ton of games listed at my store's site: Super Smash Video Games

I dunno about you guys, but I rarely go in sections to find new posts -- I just bookmark the "New Posts" search link.
The only time I use categories is if I'm trying to find an old post.

That's funny. I actually prefer going in to sections, as I never know when I may suddenly have some information to add to an old topic.
