Do you guys think its a good time to get a ps3 or should I wait for a price drop when ps4 gets out?
I am kind of not convinced to pay $300 for a 6.5 technology...especially when I factor in the price of games...or building a gaming PC as an alternative

Wait it out like a few months after release. That's when people, scratch that, idiots on the fence sell their current gen for next and a price collapse happens.RCBH928 wrote:Do you guys think its a good time to get a ps3 or should I wait for a price drop when ps4 gets out?

Depends. How important is price to you? The price of PS3s and its games in general will go down, no question about it. You have to choose between paying more money or paying more time in waiting. Personally, I'd rather play games while other people are still playing them too. Not that I'll quit playing them once they're old, but it's nice to experience something with others instead of alone.RCBH928 wrote:Do you guys think its a good time to get a ps3 or should I wait for a price drop when ps4 gets out?

More trade in/selling does not equal a price collapse. If Sony is still selling for $300 stores will not drop used prices just because they have MORE stock to make a good profit on. If stores still sell their used systems at X amounts Joe Blow on craigslist isn't dropping his price either just because.oxymoron wrote:Wait it out like a few months after release. My advice is to just buy a used PS3 when you find a deal you are happy with. There is a huge backlog is games at good prices and the PS4 won't be backwards compatible, you'll essentially get that investment back. If you aren't happy with the prices though, just wait it out a bit. There may not be a price drop but there will be holiday sales to make the PS3 move a bit with the PS4.

Well if there's more supply then demand in retrospect they'd lower the price. That's the equation I used.More trade in/selling does not equal a price collapse. That doesn't apply to the used market in such a black and white way (supply and demand isn't that cut and dry anyway). Even if demand falls slightly the cost correlation between the new and used trade will weigh in more in order to keep both looking like a good choice; but they also want the maximum dollar amount in profit for each item.

Ya, I understand. I think your advice is best then unless he wants to wait a year or so.KDub wrote:That doesn't apply to the used market in such a black and white way (supply and demand isn't that cut and dry anyway). Why can't my one-liners (Linux/Bash) be functional and pretty? I like colors, progress bars and spinners...
