Complaints About the Forum?

So, I read in the Wii thread that there were some complaints about elitism or something....
And I know some people have been getting worked up about some of the political/religious threads...


So, I thought it might be a good idea to address any outstanding issues/complaints about the forum in this thread.
I admit, the past few weeks I haven't been able to spend as much time in the forum as I would have liked, so I unfortunately haven't been able to keep up on every discussion.

I would like to make sure we keep things positive and interesting in here. I'd hate to see anybody be turned off of the forum altogether by a few individual discussions.

Let me know what suggestions you might have for improvement....

I don't think any of the political discussions have gotten out of hand. there has been a lot of respect maintained. the responses generally have a lot of thought put into them, and sources have been used when necessary. also, there is a variety of views presented...republican, democrat, and third party. i don't think it is a negative on this forum. if anything i think it shows the maturity and respect that members of this forum have.

The forum is entirely too clean, as is. It's really a miracle it's not turned to shit like many others do at this level of popularity. I don't think you have anything to worry about. And if a user does abandon the place every once in a while over the mild arguments this place has, they're probably not the kind of people that would do any good here.

I thought so too, but I just get a little paranoid when I'm not aware of everything that's going on.
And I've tried hard not to let this place turn into that those other types of places.

Anyway, I still want to hear everyone's opinion.

Yeah, usually the more popular a forum gets the worse it gets in general. The Racketboy forums are doing pretty good. I don't really care for the politics and console 'war' threads, but they're really clean compared to pretty much every similar thread on other forums. Not much name calling and such; with the exception of all the people that don't want politics/console 'wars' here, considering those are the kind of discussions that bring out the worst in most people on forums, the forums are doing pretty good.

My only criticism is that for some reason this place is blocked at work. They have some kind of cyber-porn-blocker on the computer and for some reason it doesn't allow racketboy.com (any of it, including the forums) to be viewed. So far, I haven't come across any porn. If there IS any, well, STOP HIDING IT! I want my pr0n, dammit!

I get a little uncomfortable with politics, since it seems you often learn things about a person you didn't want to know. It's the same with religion. I'm choosing just to avoid these kinds of topics though, so it's no big deal. If people want to talk about that stuff, I'm cool with it. And as others have said, people have handled topics with politics on here with a surprising amount of maturity

Overall, I don't think this forum has any problems. There are times when I have posted something that I thought would get me flamed or something, and instead I got a mature response. It took me some time to get used to that

It's blocked at work for me as well -- but it's because it's gaming-related.

I used to have this problem where I worked until I figured out you could access any site by doing a google search and accessing the site from a link rather than typing the address in the address bar. My job's blocker isn't very smart.
