As far as crust band names go, I'm pretty partial to all the "dis" bands myself.

How many words in the English language (or any language) start with "dis"? Ask the crust bands, they've figured it out.

^ Oh it is. Disclose, Disrupt, Dishammer, Disrespect - all great bands.

In other news, Max Cavalera should stop making music. Classic Sepultura was awesome (even Chaos A.D. was decent enough) and Nailbomb was even better! But this Soulfly shit is for the birds.

Listening to Broken Hope now. I always found the band generic (much like Cannibal Corpse) but the old albums are worth a spin every once in awhile.

Newer Soulfly (after 2005) is okay... a lot more thrash and less Nu-metal sounding.
I like Frontlines from Dark Ages... stupid lyrics though.

Much better guitarist.

Also check out Cavalera Conspiracy which is even closer to his old style. But to be honest most of his newer stuff eventually just makes me want to put in older Sepultura stuff.

I am a pretty big fan of classic Sepultura (Beneath The Remains is one of my favorite thrash albums), and I found Cavalera Conspiracy to be decent. Nothing compared to Sepultura, but I thought they were okay. I only listened to their first album though.

Soulfly, I have never given too much of a chance. Every time I tried to get into them (mostly out of feeling like I should like them due to being a big Sepultura fan), it just didn't happen. I don't have too much to say about the group.

I'm getting into Testament right now.

Someone mentioned in another thread that they heard the album, Souls of Black, was bad.

Well I'm here to say whoever said that doesn't know good thrash metal. Granted, I haven't heard a lot of other Testament except a handful of songs here or there. But I thought this album was fantastic! It sounded very reminiscent of Kill 'Em All era Metallica. And the song "The Legacy" is a one helluva metal ballad.

I listen to very little thrash metal, but Testament is one of my favorite thrash bands. Souls of Black is decent, though I think their debut (The Legacy) is by far their best album.

Yeah Testament definitely aren't bad. They've got some good albums, I personally enjoy The Gathering.
