Halo Anniversary is excellent. The upgraded graphics are beautiful. Especially the Silent Cartographer level. The skybox there is nothing short of breathtaking.BurningDoom wrote:

$20 total. Not a whole lot going on this past weekend that I was aware of. I hate buying CB games, but if it's something I haven't seen before I feel compelled to pull the trigger. I don't know how people lose so many manuals for Genesis games.

Here is my mid-August update. Despite a trip with Bone to my favorite Maine video game store, I am doing a pretty good job cutting back this month. (This might also be due to the fact that I picked Charlotte clean before my trip...) That said, I have been grabbing a lot of inexpensive (i.e., less than $9) Wii games from GameStop this month due to the "buy 2 get 1" sale. There are still a few locations in the suburbs that I need to scour, but otherwise, I have stopped into most of the locations in the city and acquired a lot of fun games.
My best finds this month are probably: (1) my $10 copy of Tapper (2600) from my favorite Maine video game store; and (2) my $10 brand new copy of Arc Rise Fantasia (Wii) from a local pawn shop. I have also managed to pick up the two most common Spectravision games for the 2600, Planet Patrol and Tape Worm. Given the extreme rarity of some of the other games in that sub-set, however, I very much doubt that I will ever collect them all.
Finally, the pawn shops in town have begun marking down PS3 games; so, I may start picking those up soon - despite the fact that I do not currently own a PS3. The system has finally edged out the 360 for me, however, and I am thinking of getting one soon. Right now, I can probably get a used 120 GB PS3 slim or a used 60GB "PS2 compatible" PS3 for about $120. Assuming they both work and that they both include a controller, which one do you think I should get? (I will be hooking it up to a 1080i HD CRT via component cables, and with my schedule it is doubtful that it will be used for "marathon" gaming sessions.)

Bone and I went to the Augusta, Maine Video Game Exchange - which is a great store BTW - and "the guy" who owns the store asked if we collected 2600 games. We said that we did, and he told us that he had recently acquired a box full of 2600 games that he did not want to price and put on the floor. He then asked Bone and I if we would like to pick through them. We replied with an enthusiastic "Yes!", and began picking through the games. As expected there were a lot of common games, but there were also a good number of rarer "late period" 2600 games. I had most of them, but Tapper stuck out immediately. (He also had a Ghost Manor-Spike's Peak "double ender" cart and a copy of Thunderground that was missing its end label. I somewhat regret passing on the double-ender, but I would not be satisfied with Thunderground no matter how badly I want to complete my Sega sub-set...) "The guy" priced the games at the register, and since he couldn't find much information on Tapper - and since I don't think he wanted to carry 2600 games in his inventory - he cut me a deal on it.
That game is one of the pricier games on my 2600 want list; so, I was very happy to get it out of the way. (It is the "standard" case version, BTW. I would have preferred the "grip" case, but I will take what I can get with that one.)

Picked up the joystick and Bubsy at Goodwill today. The joystick is nice, I've been looking for a simple two-button PC stick for a long time now.
Why Bubsy? I wanted to see if it's as bad as everyone says it is. I played for about five minutes. It's worse than everyone says it is.
On the bottom is Castle of Tharoggad, a Tandy Color RPG(!!!) that I was fortunate enough to snag from a member here.
