For those who don't know, it's a completely DRM-Free digital download game service with very fair prices and a good selection of games, a lot of them critically praised but publicly overlooked.

Honestly, if you got a credit card, it wouldn't kill you to fork over $6 to help give this service a real chance at co-existing with Steam. They conveniently give you all sorts of extras with the games you buy like the soundtracks. Here's the full list of games so far:

I personally love and recommend Shogo, Sacrifice, Kingpin, MDK2, EarthWorm Jim 1 and 2. Other strongly praised games I personally didn't like are the Fallouts, Second Sight, the FreeSpaces, and the Decents.

Already purchased Fallout 2 and am loving it (never beat it all the way through) and I am also looking to purchase Earthworm Jim 1 & 2 as well. I really love how they have made these really easy downloads which are updated to work on XP and Vista. I pirated Fallout 2 to play through but it wouldn't work on my setup, so look they killed a pirate by having a simple update and charging a sensible amount for the game!

Yeah, even though I couldn't get into the Fallouts, I bought both anyway, because there's a chance that Fallout 3 will get me interested in the entire series. And the extras are just cool. These are probably the most beefed up with extras out of any games on GOG right now. The soundtracks are properly tagged and everything. Great stuff. It just feels good how there's absolutely no strings attached. You could so easily share the installer EXE but GOG banks on you having a conscience. That should work better than any DRM.

Not to mention, these are old games, it's not like there's not enough copies floating around. Plus, at $6-10, and with the stuff like sound tracks, I'd rather just buy it. Pirating old games can be a pain sometimes with compatibility and such.

I'll get some games on here in a bit, out of curiosity, is there a easy way to redownload them in the future? If so then I'll definitely get some, I usually keep copies of games I download somewhere but if I lost some CDs/DVDs and my HD died or something, it wouldn't be the first time.

Yup, under your main account page it lists all your games, with the download links to everything, links to the forum for it, support issues, a way to rate the game, and so on. I really love their simple layout. Sometimes Steam's layout confuses me.

Welp, I'll find something to download here and buy it in a bit after I preorder Left 4 Dead, which for some reason I've been putting off. Sometimes I surprise myself with my own procrastination.

Oh god I hate that too. Like how Titan Quest needs to be installed and listed and even RUN FIRST, so that the expansion will work. Who plays the original? That makes no sense. The expansion added content without taking away anything. Well maybe it's because the expansion destroyed the netcode and made it completely unplayable online...which no one admits to.

Whatever you do, don't buy the iD pack. Besides most of the games not even running properly for me, it just floods your list with so much shit. I dont know why they cant just combine all these fucking quake variations into 1, 2, 3.

My solution for the id pack was to purchase it, then use source ports to actually play the games. Yeah, it clutters up the Steam list, but there's really only one game I actively play on Steam, and that's X3: Terran Conflict. The rest are either things like the id source ports using the Steam content files, or it's stuff like Half-Life 2 that I already beat and am in no rush to play again, what with my massive backlog of other titles.

Yeah, I thought it'd end up being something like that, because I had already determined Valve thought Steam users love huuuuuge lists of games.
I wish they'd combine games and expansions and other similar additions logically. Like maybe just a simple menu, so like you click Quake 3 and it shows Quake 3 and any expansions. And keep stuff like "The Ship Tuturial" off the list. Seriously, whose idea was it to put a tutorial that most players probably will only use once or twice (if they use it at all) as a separate list item?

I admire the service, but there isn't much there that particularly grabs me in their catalogue and some of the games that do I already own. Not sure if I want to jump on the Fallout bandwagon either, seems like a lot of people are conforming to this lately, which is obviously great for the service. I hope they can succeed, they'll need more developer support first.
