I put my Wii in my closet for about a month, and have plugged it back in. My closet door is always open and all that so its properly ventilated and what not.
Anyway, the Wii turns on fine, but none of my controllers will turn on. I have no idea why this is happening. I tried pressing the sync button but it doesn't seem to work. Is there an order I have to press them in or something? Maybe I hooked up my Wii wrong?
I also quickly tried another Wii mote to see if the other one was busted, but same results.
Wii motes won't respond?

Re: Wii motes won't respond?
Just a few things to check:
You're using the Sync button on the Wii then the sync button on the remotes, right?
Also you're sure the batteries in the remotes have enough energy?

is the sensor bar working? Is It in the right place?
Is your sensor bar wired or wireless? Check to see that the wire isnt damaged.

They were pretty high last time I used them, but I'll try new batteries. Also you're sure the batteries in the remotes have enough energy?
It's more or less in the same place it was before. Level change is a bit different since I've gotten rid of a cable box it used to be on, but not enough to where it should make a difference.flojocabron wrote:is the sensor bar working? Is It in the right place?

The wire seems fine. Would the sensor bar actually interfere with turning the controller on though?
Re: Wii motes won't respond?
Several great points have already been brought up.
You can isolate some of the components during the trouble shooting. The Wiimote will have four blue lights after pressing a button when not synced. If no light, replace the batteries. The Wiimote will bypass the opening screen by press the A button even if the Sensor Bar is not working if it is synced. If you can't even do that, then concentrate on verified working new batteries and both Sync Buttons of the Console and Wiimote. A second Wiimote could verify if the first Wiimote or if the Console has the Sync issue. Once you get past that, then see if the cursor works with the Sensor Bar.

Okay, it seems it was the batteries. Not sure what happened, but I think they started leaking, though it is only obvious for the 2nd controller.

Re: Wii motes won't respond?
Yep. I learned that lesson too
I don't leave batteries in any of them anymore. And, in general, you're suppose to take them out of devices if they're not going to be used for awhile. The batteries will leak.
Personally, I've found plus remotes and wii plus attachment remotes and the balance board to be particularly guilty of this.

I think the only thing the balance board is particularly guilty of is that it's not being used oftenCronozilla wrote:the balance board to be particularly guilty of this.

Re: Wii motes won't respond?
Never leave batteries in the Wii motes. For whatever reason, the batteries will still run low (and completely out) when not in use. Secondly, if you don't use the Wii in a long time an leave the batteries in the remotes, you may come back to find that the battery acid has leaked all inside and corroded the metal connectors. This happened to my brother.
