The "American" thing annoys me and it almost always comes from Europeans as Canadians and Mexicans have no problem calling us Americans. And by hating America, I mean hating the United States. You are so filthy you don't even have a word for yourself so I decided to create this thread to tell you how much Europeans rule.
It's weird that you're complaining about Americans hating public transportation but talking about New York, a city that subsists on it.I remember how creepy it was to walk around New York's office district and not seeing a single soul walking. There was no one there after bussiness hours because that part of the city only exists for bussinesss, it had no life outside of it. It was creepy because you could walk across a dozen streets and you still wouldn't see a soul. I've never seen anything like that.
My first trip to Texas as a Pennsylvania yankee was a an interesting culture shock for me. Lots of big, modern auditorium like churches everywhere, people chasing you down in parking lots to ask if you know Jesus (Literally chasing. I thought I may have actually done something wrong the first time this happened since they came running to my car. I like to respond, "No, who's that?") and cashiers telling you to have a blessed day instead of a nice one.Menegrothx wrote:Well you are from TX so there's always that small chance you could be a hardcore baptist or something
I do the same thing when someone calls the US Democratic Party "liberal."BoneSnapDeez wrote:I do chuckle whenever someone calls Obama or the Democratic party "leftist."

America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are countries built by immigration (and consequently countries where the actual native populations are in the minority). Countries like that (there are other ones too like Dubai and Singapore, I don't know how easy it's to integrate to other "new world" countries though) are a small minority.ZeroAX wrote: In all seriousness I will give one HUGE point to Americans. Intergration. If you live there sooner or later you beging to act like an American and you BECOME an American.
I don't know what Europe does so wrong.
It's because most of Europe's immigrants are muslims.ZeroAX wrote: I don't want to say that it's because most of Europe's immigrants are muslims, because that would be wrong.
Canada is superior to America in every way except for weather.Ack wrote: Could be worse. At least you're not Canadians.
You would make great friends with some of my fellow countrymen and some really old people from Germany and some other northern European countries.Menegrothx wrote: It's because most of Europe's immigrants are muslims.![]()
An interesting example: Kenyan immigrants have the highest employment rate out of any immigrant group in Finland, and are generally well liked. Somalis on the other hand have abysmal employment rates and the highest crime rate out of any ethnic group within the country. Kenya and Somalia are neighbor countries. Many Kenyan immigrants (and other immigrants too) hate somalis just as much as the natives, if not more so. And it's not just Europe that has trouble integrating somalis, I've heard reports from Minnesota that they've had the same problem.
People of different religions have different mindsets and values. There's a reason why protestant and catholic countries are different. Compare USA and Canada to Central/South America or North/Central Europe to Southern Europe. There are cultural differences, and the countries function differently (generally speaking protestant majority countries are less corrupt, more well functioning and successful). Even in secular populations that largely don't believe in God, that religious background still has an impact on how those people view the world and what their values are.

The cool thing about America is that you've got so much diversity in geography and climate. Canada is either humid continental or subarctic/arctic (not that much people live up north), USA has deserts, subtropic areas, Hawaii, Alaska, California, some areas have 4 seasons, some areas with really drastic differences between winter and summer weather and some places with a year round mild climate.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Canada is superior to America in every way except for weather.Ack wrote: Could be worse.
