You lost me.
There's a grading type of test based on, if you live in the city you are applying for the job, your race, sex, military experience, prior experience/certifications and age, are what they judge on that I know for sure.

My brother, a firefighter in St Louis, just applied for a position here and got a 99 and didn't get a job. So yea white and male don't get me any extra points towards getting the job here.

I like the idea of working 12 days a month and getting a good paycheck while being able to do another job or anything I want. Editing in: helping other people plays no part in wanting to do it. All the cops and firefighters I know say don't do it because you want to help people, most people aren't going to want your help and you will get treated like shit. Going onto the job thinking you're going to be helping and making a difference, you won't last.

I'm already a cynical person and they know it so they all say I'm perfect for it.

Before 2009, I would not have found that surprising, but I do find it surprising in light of the Supreme Court's decision in Ricci v. DeStefano.

You have a civil right to work for an equal opportunity employer, no?

I would assume that it has more to do with diversity then it does anything. I don't remember what the score tops out at but it's over 100 and below 150.

Supposedly, though sometimes you have to sue to ensure that right is actually acknowledged.

Tell it to the guy in sales who has one hand.

I'm half kidding, but a visible "physical disability" is a hard thing to ignore during an interview.

I can count on one hand the number of times I've interviewed somebody with a physical disability.

:) : Finished putting a little movie together for work. I added a menu, title, chapters, and credits so the file will be all ready to burn to a DVD.

 : Bah. iDVD is being a pain in the a$$ and refuses to burn my movie. It finishes encoding, tries to start the burn process and then spits the DVD back out before it even starts. Tis most frustrating.

I've found a couple of possible solutions, but if that doesn't work I'm going to have to convert my finished iMovie project and switch over to using the PC desktop. It has a DVD burner and I know it works. I'll end up having to re-add a couple of things, but perhaps Windows DVD Maker will be my savior.

:? : I really hope it works. They're putting on another production at work and asked me to film it. I just know there are going to be people asking for copies.

If it doesn't work then they're just going to have to deal with a CD version. They won't be able to play it on a DVD player, but at least it'll have the title and credits.
