It's $58k on average only because of special librarians like myself. Academic librarians can do OK, but public and school? My mother is a manager with a master's and 30 years experience at her public library, and I make roughly $6k less my second year on the job. And her salary has gone up a fair bit in the last decade. 15 years ago, she was making just over $30k a year. The position she held then has not seen its salary increase whatsoever. Public and school library salaries are pretty much the same they were 15 years ago.Forlorn Drifter wrote:$58,000 is between shit and the poverty level? Damn, my Dad has never made that much in a year.

In an open market it's pretty much impossible for the economy to not get better.Xeogred wrote:Does anyone really think this economy will ever turn around or is it going to keep slipping? All I ever hear is that the middle class continues to thin out and hasn't recovered.

I feel awesome.
I walked into my room and got attacked by a bee. I shook it off before it could sting me and somehow impaled it with a combat knife.

We've technically been in a recovery for a couple of years now, it's just been an agonizingly trickling one.Xeogred wrote:You guys obviously know more than me and all, does anyone really think this economy will ever turn around or is it going to keep slipping? How come no one ever says "Sock it to me" anymore?
Why can't I find a "Chunky" candy bar at any grocery store?
Do girl scouts sell cookies door to door anymore?
A Lemonade stand that spells Lemonade with a backwards E will always make more money than its competitors.
It's scary that the price of hot dog buns can be higher than the price of hot dogs. Even Ball Park dogs are $2.50 for eight. That's around thirty cents a hot dog.
