probably licensing issues? Easier to pay Metallica for the game than to pay Metallica plus a bunch of other bands?

Are you a fan of the series in general? I've always found them fun. 2 and 3 were the best to me. But 5 is definitely good.

On the other hand, I thought Warriors of Rock was horrible. I said this about it when I beat it:

Possibly the only time I've ever beaten a game because I hated it and didn't want to give it the satisfaction of beating me. My wife and I played through this over the course of three weekends. Compared to previous GH games, it's a piece of shit. There are baffling inclusions (you play guitar to the piano parts of "Bohemina Rhapsody"!) and a completely terrible selection of songs that I feel like would appeal to no particular audience. A lot of the songs are so badly programmed, that you have to try to NOT listen to the rhythm so as to play the song right. Neversoft's suites of Rush and Megadeth have also made me believe that they are sadistic assholes. Fuck you Warriors of Rock.

Yeah, I actually just picked up GH5. Last one I needed. Now I'm looking to complement them with the Rock Band games.

No, I haven't played Warriors of Rock, didn't even know that one existed until now. I have the rest of the series on PS2, which it looks like Warriors wasn't released for. At first I thought you meant Legends of Rock.

...and "I AM THE TABLE!"

5 is definitely good. You have Band Hero? I need to get that one. Sadly we got rid of our PS2 GH games when we upgraded to the PS3 ones since we just didn't have room for two sets of instruments back then.

Rock Band - I actually think RB is better than GH, but my wife disagrees. It seems to be a 'feeling' thing though. Like obviously they're very similar games, but she finds the timing/feeling of RB slightly off for her, so we don't play those as much. It's too bad, cuz there's so much DLC constantly coming out for RB. Like complete albums sometimes, it's crazy.

Sadistic, possibly, but any game that lets you play the seven part 20 minute awesomeness that is 2112 gets a pass from me. Aside from the original 1976 album, the song only appears complete on the 1998 live compilation Different Stages. The Overture (part 1) and Temples of Syrinx (part 2) are paired together on other live albums. For Neversoft to get them to license the entire thing was a major feat. The game may suck, but the mode that lets you experience 2112 is pretty cool.

WE HAVE ASSUMED CONTROL.

the problem with the Rush and Megadeth parts (at least to me) were that they seemed so ridiculously programmed. Like I said, it was as if you had to turn the volume off and just focus on the notes since it seemed nearly impossible to actually "play along" with what your ears were hearing.

I was thinking about it, and I'm not sure licensing issues would have been that big of deal with the Garage Inc. covers on GH: Metallica. There are other bands on the game. The cover boasts: "Over 20 Guest Acts!"

Games Beaten 2013
1. Bioshock Infinite
2. Demon's Crest
3. Sacred Citadel
4. Dishonored
5. Bastion

I beat both Dishonored and Bastion (for the third time) this past weekend. I enjoyed Dishonored immensely, being an avid fan of Stealth games, and Bastion was a blast as always. Completely forgot about half of it's story so rediscovering how good it is was a pleasure. Now I think it's on to Mark of the Ninja to continue this Stealth binge, Torchlight 2, and ActRaiser, which I just recently acquired.

So...yeah. I've been a bit busy lately on Steam. That summer sale came through, and I picked up a bunch of titles to play. All of this has also been punctuated with playing through Terraria, the Killing Floor Summer Sideshow, and Monaco with a few friends. Of all of these, Hotline Miami has been my favorite. That game completely blew me away in terms of how much I enjoyed it. The gameplay was fast-paced and addictive, I loved the music, and finding new ways to swiftly pound someone's face in while worrying about the guy with a shotgun strolling around the corner...oh, the stress level was intense. And totally worth playing.

Hotline Miami is badass! Can't wait for 2.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on Anodyne please.
