Is this true?

Post by someone3760 »

I read in a book (guinness world records gamers edition 2008) today that only 396 copies of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (N64) were made. Can anyone confirm this? If it's true i'll buy a couple.

Well, if it is true, where would you but a "couple" at?

...and at what prices!?

It is a truth that this is a terrible topic title that lends no clues to its contents. I'll grant you that much.

I found 49 copies for sale between two websites. I really doubt that there were less than 400 made.

It's only worth about $10 loose, so it's probably not worth picking up multiple copies.

Edit: According to Vgchartz, 60,000+ copies were sold in the US.

Considering that there were around 30,000 copies of Panzer Dragoon Saga made in the US, I'd wager that any game made with a print run in the low-hundreds would be EXCEEDINGLY DIFFICULT TO FIND unless it was some kind of ultra-indie title.

I did some searching and found another person citing the Guiness Book of World Records for this statistic. IT SOUNDS LIKE A PRETTY MAJOR ERROR ON THEIR PART. Either that or they're referring to a "Special Iceland-Exclusive Pre-Order Edition" or something like that. I'm assuming it's just an error though.

I've seen too many copies in the wild for that number to be true.

They're probably talking about in the UK. Not North America...

Edit: Oh according to Wikipedia, it never came out in the UK for the N64. Weird, I could have sworn it had.
