PnT was kinds cool at first because it was another option, but then prices went up. The stores were set up really dark with black everywhere. It made it not too conducive to want to buy things actually. I bought a few older things from one near me, but then there was never anyone there buying anything and it was always just the same old stuff and the retro was way overpriced. So the one near me closed. One in Austin I've been to was a dark cave with nobody in it either time too.

Incredibly, there used to be national chain stores that sold retro games! They have all been displaced by Gamestop, however... :(
I didn't know that. I knew there used to be other nationwide chains of videogame retailers, but I thought they only carried about two generations at a time the way GS does.

Play N Trade is a franchise, so pricing, layout, etc is all up to the franchisee. The ones we have here are pretty nice and the prices are fair, but it's always a toss up because it's going to depend on how the franchisee runs it.

GS used to sell as far back as possible too. It was during the tail end of the Ps2/Gamecube/Xbox era that they stopped carrying retro stuff.

This is true. I recall purchasing NES and SNES games from Gamestop as late as 2005.

The cool thing about PnT is that since there a franchise it's more of a indie feel. The people in the store actually give two shits about you. Also, since it's a franchise they want repeat costumer versus GS where they don't care if you come back. To all you guys that have been to one of these, how does the whole test out a game thing work?

Not necessarily. Some PnTs are as bad as those typical overpriced flea market sellers, with $40 copies of Super Mario World and the like.

Play n trades are horrible and GS employee quality varies by location.
