This game looks great.
Sounds like it would be a long platinum.

Re: Dragon's Crown
Reading up on multiplayer for Dragon's Crown... Honestly, it sounds fairly poorly done. The game really needed an account system. And only P1 gets story progress? Sounds like a lot of speed runs will be needed to get everyone up to par in a coop party. :/
And at least on PS3 local multi only one person can visit a shop, buy items, equip weapons, etc. at a time... Wondering if this is an issue for online/Vita adhoc play as well. Hmm..

Been putting some time into this. So far I've tried Elf and Amazon and I really like the Amazon. Keeping sustained damage to proc Berserk is kind of a challenge but she can just shred everything after you stack it a few times. I can see why Elf is an "Expert" class because you have to put up with way more complications to get your damage. I like the jack-of-all-trades quality the Elf has, but I just can't seem to get really reliable or consistent use out of her. Also might try Sorcerer soon as he seems to be really powerful.
Overall I really like the game. The expansive RPG elements are really enjoyable and the loot system is awesome. Vanillaware games never cease to impress me visually either. The game seemed stupid easy at first, but I just hit my first real difficulty spike (Warlock) and of course I'm only on the lowest difficulty so far.
I was playing it yesterday with a friend and I noticed this stuff. Kind of irritating that the game can't just open 4 windows or something. Besides that the lack of story progress... really sucks. I really dislike that. I guess as long as you have the same person be first player it doesn't really matter in a practical sense but it's still obnoxious.

Re: Dragon's Crown
I hope I am just misinformed about only P1 getting story progress. But that is what it seems like from some reading I've done.
One thread I was reading made it sound like you couldn't switch P1 and such. But luckily that was wrong.

So far the English dub isn't bad at all.
I usually choose the English dub anyway if I am playing a localized RPG. In a lot of games the Japanese audio doesn't match the English subtitles, so it's very distracting. The Yakuza series had a lot of this.

The Wii translation of Muramasa is especially jarring; keep in mind I don't speak Japanese, I just recognize some common words from all the subbed anime I watch. Even with that I could tell they were taking "liberties" with the translation. That was the main reason I picked up the Vita port even though I got all the endings and shrines on the Wii.

Re: Dragon's Crown
"Allow this heart to beat again. Quench their thirst. Lead the wandering soul back. Reverse death and AWAKEN THEM!"
I never get tired of that
Here's a funny bit I encountered while playing. One of the sorceress's abilities allows her to take a pile of bones and create a skeleton. I actually encountered a pile of bones where the person's last words were, "Don't turn me into a skeleton!"
Another great one was, "I request a do over!"
Some of the death messages are really sad though, like one girl whose last words were, "I was single my whole life..."

Now that you mention it, I am curious to see how bad it is. I do own a Wii copy of Muramasa, but I haven't even opened it yet. I gotta fire it up some time.
Re: Dragon's Crown
The Wii translation for Muramasa is different than the Vita? I never played the Wii version much, but the Vita version seemed okay. I'm glad they kept the original audio in tact.

Did you play the localized version of 4? It was actually a lot better than how they were handling the previous games. For starters, they finally stopped calling everyone by their given name, which always infuriated me for some reason (just feels even more annoying in a real life/yakuza setting than it usually does to me).
I never got around to playing the localized version of Of The End though, I wonder how they handled that.
