I didn't want to make a thread for each problem so time to group them all together!
1. On the back of my SNES where the power cord sticks in, it's missing the plastic round thingy so I have basicly a metal pin sticking out. It can be powered and works fine it's just if I move the console a tiny bit the damn thing shuts off. How do I fix this?
2. My Gamecube's lid sometimes won't shut, so I have to slam it shut a few times before it shuts. I found it at a thrift store outlet so it was pretty beat up...still works fine. How do I fix it?
3. My Sega Game Gear has a lot of dirt on the screen...behind the plastic protected bit. It's like imbedded almost. How/can I get to that dirt to clean it?
4. My old Gameboy pocket's buttons don't respond as well as they used to, I have to mash them to get any response. I did open it up and clean it, which slightly helped but not enough that i'm happy with it. What's wrong with it?
Oh and the PC issue. I'v had this thing for quite a few years and it's given me some trouble. Ignoring the blue screens (it's because some dumbass who installed my new hard drive didn't do a good job), I have some heat issues with it. I have to battle dust endlessly in my room so much so that I'v taken to putting an air filter near the PC. But dust still gets in and builds up. I try to clean it more often then I used to, but it's still running kinda high (I think at least...Speccy tells me the temps). Here's the temps:
CPU: 52
Motherboard: 27
Graphics: 60
Hard drive: 54 (this is the highest i'v seen it and that's after I just cleaned it too!)
The guy who I take this PC to, to fix it or do whatever to it that I need done; all ready told me it's having some heat issues and showed me some slight burn marks on the motherboard.
Also should mention it runs kinda loud...idk if that's the fan or what...
My question is how can I help cut down on heating issues?

I know you're trying to fix these, but:GirlGamer55 wrote:I didn't want to make a thread for each problem so time to group them all together!

1. New AC Adapter on eBay - $7 shipped
2. used base unit Gamecube on eBay - $20 shipped
3. this should be an easy fix of unscrewing everything until you get to the screen cover and just cleaning. otherwise replacement Game Gears start at around $35 shipped
4. If some cleaning helped a little, try again for more improvement. Otherwise Game Boy Pockets start around $20 shipped on eBay.
5. Sounds like you are living on borrowed time with that hard drive. Get a new one and get an extra fan or two for your case. Fans can be had starting for $5 or so on NewEgg.
If it were me, I'd just get replacements for #1, #2, and #4. That will run you less than $50.
#3 (The Game Gear fix) should be free and easy, really. The PC air flow fix (#5) will also be cheap, but you'll eventually have to decide when and what to spend on a new hard drive.

From her description, it's actually on the console casing that's broken, not the AC adapter. One of my old SNES systems had the same thing, you'll just have to buy a new system.dsheinem wrote: 1. New AC Adapter on eBay - $7 shipped

Ah, I thought she meant the round rubbery part on the AC adapter plug.AppleQueso wrote:From her description, it's actually on the console casing that's broken, not the AC adapter. So it's a $13 repair: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dl ... 0920461238

Would depend on what the stuff that's left looks like to whether it can be jury rigged, or if need to replace the socket.GirlGamer55 wrote:I didn't want to make a thread for each problem so time to group them all together!

Disassemble, clean the door latch parts, lightly grease them with some appropriate synthetic grease, and reassemble.2. My Gamecube's lid sometimes won't shut, so I have to slam it shut a few times before it shuts. I found it at a thrift store outlet so it was pretty beat up...still works fine. How do I fix it?

Did you clean the black bits on the rubber domes and the contacts on the board where they touch? If cleaning didn't help enough, might need to replace the rubber domes or buy some of the material to repaint the black carbon contacts.4. If there are really burn marks where some capacitors have roasted or burst, you're pretty much at needing a new motherboard. They could be replaced, but it would be a pain in the butt. If the fan is making squealing noises, then the bearing might be toast in it so it isn't spinning fast enough to really cool. That might be the case since you have multiple warm things. The thermal paste could be no longer doing it's job on the CPU. If your PC is sitting on the floor, get it at least a foot up and it will suck up less dust from the floor.I have some heat issues with it.

Hobie covered it all
The only thing I can add is to check the actual pads for any cracking/tearing where the crease is. Once it starts to do that they will lose all their pressure and bounce.

You don't get "slight burn marks" from heat issues. It'll throttle down or even shut off to avoid overheating too much, and that's well before it'll actually burn.GirlGamer55 wrote: The guy who I take this PC to, to fix it or do whatever to it that I need done; all ready told me it's having some heat issues and showed me some slight burn marks on the motherboard.

The CPU/GPU/Mobo temps could easily be normal range, depending on part/cooler/case and whether that's idle or load/etc. Under 70C for load is good, and GPUs will usually run a little hotter. If those are idle temperatures, then they would be high.
If that's an accurate reading for your HDD though, it's getting cooked. If it's not heating up like that from being damaged already, it's going to fail from it sooner or later.
The noise, as mentioned, is likely due to one or more of the fans, to including the CPU and/or GPU fans. If you have a decent card for gaming, it's fairly likely it's the GPU fan.
A typical setup for PC cooling is to have fans in the front of the case pulling air in, and fans in the back/side/top pushing air out. If you don't have solid airflow through the case like that, you may have hot spots. If you don't have some of those fans, adding them might help (assuming there are places to put them, since you do have a retail PC).

It does have burn marks...I saw them with my own eyes.isiolia wrote:You don't get "slight burn marks" from heat issues. The temps are idle/a few minutes after I shut off a game.
And damn it this is a new hard drive! My last one crapped out on me after 5 years or so...I can't afford a new one.
I don't think theres anywhere to put more fans on...

If they're getting hot, that will certainly lead to an early demise.GirlGamer55 wrote: And damn it this is a new hard drive! My last one crapped out on me after 5 years or so...I can't afford a new one.

Re: Multiple console issues/a PC issue
Ok so dug about and found a small desk fan, turned it on and pointed it at the opening in the side of the case, it's cooling the CPU and Motherboard and even dropped the HD down a degree or two...
Tomarrow I plan on finding a screwdriver and just taking the damn case off so air flows better....and dust gets out quicker.
Good idea? I mean the HD is now a cool 48 degrees. So it has to be a safe idea right? I just wonder if I might be affecting the inside fan...since the desk fan is pointed at the opening where the fan sucks in air...
