Heads Up: Great Wii Games are Getting Cheap.

Post by 01toubib »

For all of you on edge about buying a Wii. It might be the time to strike. I don't own one yet, but I see some great games reaching pricing lows. In all likeliness they probably will never reach these prices again in there lifetime. (Gamecube & N64 owners know what I'm talking about, with the used price on many famous games.)

So these are some games I thought I would mention. If you find others, post em up! I'm scooping some of the games up despite being Wii-less since I know once these games are discontinued it'll be hard to find them again at these prices.
  • Mario Galaxy - $15.16 (Walmart or Amazon)
    Kirby's Epic Yarn - $7.60 (Walmart only)
Smash Bros Brawl - $26.99 (Walmart or Amazon)
Zelda's Twilight Princess - $15.15 (Walmart or Amazon)
Super Paper Mario - $17.24 (Walmart or Amazon)
    Pikmin 2 - $18.28 (Walmart or Amazon)

Yeah, I have to admit, I bought a Wii U on launch day, but most of my time since has been spent buying Wii games cheap and playing those. I never owned a Wii, so it's been fun experiencing the console on my own terms (rather than the usual stuff I had played at other people's houses).

I've got the following all cheap (with the exception of Metroid Prime Trilogy and Xenoblade Chronicles)

Mario Galaxy 1 and 2
Project Zero 2
Resident Evil 4 Wii
Zack and Wiki
Sonic Colours
Little King's Story
Mad World
Another Code R
The Last Story
Xenoblade Chronicles
Metroid Prime Trilogy

Also, Gamestop is filling it with cheap pre-played games. I have acquired a TON of great games from $3 to $10. (I consider a $15 Wii game "expensive".) Now is definitely the time to be buying Wii games.

Hmmm. I've been meaning to hop on, but I don't currently have money for a system- I'd go ahead and hop on Wii U.

I still don't have the room to play Wii games either... blegh. Need to figure something out.

I'm not one for modern gaming but I've been considering looking at getting a Wii myself for this reason.

Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon - $19.99

This is the first Wii game I've tried since buying my new Wii a couple weeks back. It's absolutely blowing me away. It's a surreal mix of horror, adventure, and RPG gameplay with some of the best voice acting I've heard from a game in a long time.

The story so far is very mature and well written, and the environments feel correctly lonely and tense in a Silent Hill sort of way. I give it a full recommendation for anyone who likes adventure games and such.
I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

I'm just glad I bought Xenoblade when NOA released it. It's unbelievable how fast that game's aftermarket cost skyrocketed.

Just a heads up, Gamestop is still running their B2G1 free on Wii games. This is a great time to stock up on Wii games as they are readily available, CIB, and cheap at Gamestop.

The Wii is almost surely going to be an appealing console for retro gamers as it was sorely overlooked because of the shovelware that buried the real library of great games.

If you mean space, then you really don't need to worry about that much since it isn't like the Kinect. Honestly, most games can be played just sitting down and relaxing. The only ones I've ever needed space for would be something like Just Dance, Wii Sports, and sort of Samba De Amigo.

It's going to be hilarious if Nintendo just out of the blue decides to re-print it or something. All those people sitting on extra copies they bought at full MSRP...
