hm....it would be an interesting choice. Sega these days is a better 3rd party publisher for other companies, than it is at making its own games, so I could see that work well for both parties.

My concern would be Sega's track record of localizing niche games for the American market. If they maintained Atlus USA as a localizer and Sega stayed out of the way of Atlus USA localizing anything made by Atlus, then it'd be fine.ZeroAX wrote:http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/vi ... ying-Atlus

I don't see why Sega would interupt a succesful business practice. Remember it's the owner of Atlus who went bankrupt, not Atlus itself. For all we know it might have been a respectfully profitable business.MrPopo wrote: My concern would be Sega's track record of localizing niche games for the American market. I'm just going to let you ponder this statement for a while.ZeroAX wrote:I don't see why Sega would interupt a succesful business practice. I don't really play Atlus' games but having them restricted to one or two platforms is doing everyone a disservice.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:![]()
I really kind of hope Nintendo buys them...

Come on they are not so bad. They aren't Squareenix or Capcom

Not sure of Sega's record on acquisitions, but smart companies allow the acquired company to operate the way they always have as long as they remain marginally profitable. Anheuser Busch has an incredible track record of purchasing breweries and allowing them to run as usual.
Re: Atlus Files Bankruptcy
Well, when you consider the only brand new internally developed ATLUS game to appear on a non-Nintendo platform this generation is Catherine, what would really change? I guess it would affect ATLUS North America's localizations though. Maybe they could get absorbed into NoA as a localization wing? There are plenty of 3DS games that may never leave Japan....oh whatever.Pulsar_t wrote:I don't really play Atlus' games but having them restricted to one or two platforms is doing everyone a disservice.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:![]()

Frankly, as long as whoever purchases Index lets ATLUS go about their business as usual I don't mind who gets them.

If Sony, Nintendo, or Microsoft purchase them it is NOT 'business as usual'. That's the problem. And yea, while Catherine may be the only game that they developed for PS3/360, keep in mind that that was the Persona team that made that game. And they've made every one of their games for PlayStation platforms, as far as I know.
At the same time, there was a Persona game announced for the 3DS quite a while back. And they never really elaborated on it. Could be Persona 5. Could be a remake or a spinoff (of a series that is already a spinoff).
