Transferring PSP data?
Transferring PSP data?
My little brother sold me his PSP and I wanted to upgrade from a 1gb memory stick for a bigger size. How would I move the current data to the new one?

Re: Transferring PSP data?
hook up the psp to a PC with a mini usb cable.
You can then copy them to the PC.
On the PC before you want to copy, you can see where the files are, Some are hidden behind files.
Put a new memory card in the PSP and copy it back.
Or you can start using the new one and copy only the files you need.
You can double check to see that everything goes back in its proper files.
Some older PSP files may be in two places or not show up at all when you transfer them.
Just experiment and move them to their proper spot.
one more thing! IS the PSP hacked or is it normal? Official downloaded games from sony may need to be redownloaded with the proper PSN network.
If its hacked then you can redownload all the games you want for it.
hush hush now!

Re: Transferring PSP data?
Nope it's a straight edge PSP! I don't really see the point of hacking? It just kills the experience.

Re: Transferring PSP data?
It's 1GB. Just transfer your entire memory stick to your computer. You don't have to worry about which folders go where.
About hacking - My PSP is hacked and I have no idea how it would "kill" the experience. I don't pirate PSP games, but homebrew is very useful for things like fan translations, emulators, and various apps for reading ebooks or comics or whatever. If you have any interest in games like Valkyria Chronicles III, you'll definitely want to check out PRO CFW.

Seconding the hacking part- although the word has negative connotations, and Sony would have you believe that you contract herpes just by thinking about the words 'custom firmware', it's the best thing to happen to my psp. Reading ebooks, un-DRMing my purchased games so i have a permanent backup that is independent of Sony's servers, running any PSOne games that i own which are not on PSN, etc. Definitely it added to my experience, making my PSPGo the best media device i own now.
But, we're now OT, so i'll stop there.

Re: Transferring PSP data?
Not to mention with CFW you can rip UMD games directly to your memory card which makes the load times so much better. Also you can buy an adapter that lets you use two micro sd cards, i have mine with 2 32G cards for a total of 64GB! That setup only cost me like $45. You can have two 64GB cards for a total of 128 GB! But the 64 GB micro sd cards are still rather expensive at around $50 each or so. This makes it very convienient for me when i go on vacation i just have to grab my psp and my charger and I have everything I need.

Was VC3 actually fan translated? That would be awesome. Now about Final Fantasy Type 0.....Valkyrie-Favor wrote:It's 1GB. Just transfer your entire memory stick to your computer. You don't have to worry about which folders go where.

VC3 is making great progress. Type-0 has been announced, but nothing released. I've heard they're at 20%. Other games like Tales of Rebirth, The Promise of Haruhi Suzumiya, and Madoka Magica have been announced too.
Completed translations include:
Idolmaster SP: Perfect Sun
Dangan Ronpa
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva series (Not that you'd need it)
Shiren the Wanderer
PSP patches are uncommon, but they are definitely possible. They are also pretty cool.

Re: Transferring PSP data?
I wish someone would translate the psp version of Princess Crown, since a translation of the saturn version is unlikely do the difficulty of saturn programming.
