Re: Next Gen Opinion?
I'm looking at PS4, but unless some blessing flows down from unknown places and gives me money, I'll have to wait for a price drop.

Re: Next Gen Opinion?
You guys, not to be crass, but the PS4 and Xbox One hardware are not inline with something "available in tablets for years" that's just incorrect.
I think the Galaxy S4 ... in Europe ... has an 8 core mobile CPU ... but that's about where similarities end.
Saying a mobile device has the same number of cores as a PC desktop or these consoles is just an anecdote, the numbers don't line up the same way. There's a difference in power consumption, speed, architecture, bandwidth, instruction set, etc. Not to mention how it's utilized, power supply security, overhead, etc. It's like saying all 4 cylinder engine vehicles have equal horsepower regardless of car weight, fuel consumption, or air mixture, etc. It's just not correct.
As for heat dissipation, with Microsoft announcing the 50Mhz bump in GPU clock-speed ... it is something that sounds concerning to me. The PS4, on the other hand, sounds promising. Sony said the operating temperatures are about 35C. Which is fantastic. The PS3 would have heat issues if it went over its rated 55C or so. So, they essentially dropped it 20 degrees and most all chips will have no issues with even a 50C load. Let alone the solder joints holding it onto the board.
Also, there should just be less general problems because there's on shared APU chip as opposed to separate CPU and GPU sockets so that issue where it's melting solder and becoming disconnected just isn't going to happen except in cases of extremely poor ventilation. At least on the PS4 ... I have no idea what the Xbox One reported temperatures are.

Personally, I buy consoles to not have to worry about this technical stuff. I take peace in the fact that as long as I take care of my console and keep it in shape, It will play a game every time. Versus with PC you have to worry about if your computer has the specs to play the next AAA game.

If you have a PC built for gaming you really don't need to worry about that. You can pretty well just upgrade when the next console generation comes around. It isn't the 90s anymore.
Older. Not wiser.

Every time I research into building a PC I get frustrated because I can't understand half the shit they're are talking about. Example: So this computer has AMZ45690856890 processor and can underclocked to 5.956896 mhz faster also the GPU with need to be upgraded due to the fact the DDREW2 are becoming outdated.

As long as all you care to play are the big name AAA games from major publishers like Ubisoft and Activision then yes, enjoy your third / first person shooters that also come out on PS4/Xbox One. However, if you're into exclusives (The Last Of US for example) and the vast majority of Japanese developed games (Nintendo's library or JRPGs for example) PC is not the be all end all answer it's often portrayed as. At best being a PC only gamer nets you half the games out there. (That's not really directed at RyaNtheSlayA particularly as he might not have meant that, just the mindset I keep seeing on boards that PC is the perfect solution when it is only half the equation.)
To stay on topic, I have no intention of buying a PS4, Xbox One, or Wii U any time soon. My backlog of systems and games is already immense from collecting games for over 25 years, and to add even more to the pile would just be ludicrous at this point.

Re: Next Gen Opinion?
I want a PS4, but I don't think I will be getting one until they come out with like the slim version 2 or 3 like they did with the PS3. I want nothing to do with the XBox One. And my nephew who lives with me part time has a Wii-U, so I get to play that.

Re: Next Gen Opinion?
No intention of purchasing any of them for the next few years, though I plan to get either a PS4 or Xbone at some point for the three games I actually do want to play quite a lot (KH3, FFXV, Mirror's Edge 2). Maybe a Wii U after it's built up a solid library.

I have a PS4 preordered and wouldn't be surprised if I have an XB1 by the end of the year as well. I like to mix retro anf modern games.
