It's pretty tempting ... but frankly, I'm gonna wait.
None of the games said to be coming out within the first quarter are games I particularly need to play or would even pay $60 for, which is a clear sign to me to just hold off.
To be clear, I have no intentions of owning an Xbox One at this point in time, if I ever did it'd be when it's on its way out, used. So, my opinion is mostly towards the PS4 ... I suppose my Xbox One opinion would be more extreme.
I'm happy with the stuff I have, my PC is freshly upgraded and I like what I've got on Wii U and what's coming. I think I'll start seriously considering PS4 when MGS drops. Before then, I might pick games up when they're on sale.

Re: Next Gen Opinion?
I'm kinda hoping the Wii U will make a competitive price dip to keep relevant during their launches and people will start dumping their used ones with a bunch of VC content at fire sale rates to fund their Microsoft and Sony impulses.

PS4 pre-ordered. Xbox One is a maybe. I'll buy it if it gets exclusives I want. Region free on Xbox One is great. And I am glad that the PS4 continues Sony's region free trend.
To be honest, neither console has any 'must haves' for me at launch. There are a few I am interested in. Just no system sellers. I'm only buying because I'm crazy. And PS+ on PS3, PS4, and Vita should be nice. And because I know the PS4 will eventually have games I want.

Can you elaborate on this a bit? Admittedly I haven't boned up on the hardware particulars but your description doesn't sound like any "next gen" system I would want.RyaNtheSlayA wrote: Both the PS4 and XBone, unlike the 360 and PS3 at their respective launches, are very modestly powered. Using hardware that has been tested in tablets and laptops for the last few years.
In general I would think heat dispersion would be a huge priority for both Sony and MS with all the overheating issues they encountered. For that reason alone, I'll be waiting to pick up a PS4. Besides, I have a stack of PS3 games I still need to tackle.

Re: Next Gen Opinion?
I've preordered a PS4. I've gotten a lot of use out of every Playstation console I've owned, so it seems like a safe bet. PS+ means I won't need to be shelling out $60+ a pop just to get something to play on it either.
The PS4 is running a BSD UNIX derivative, so porting to it would be like porting to Linux (hello Steambox ports?
). The One probably a version of Windows 8.
Having that straightforward development path has never been a bad thing. Nor has using proven hardware designs.
They're both using beefed up version's of AMD's APU tech. They've quoted graphics performance numbers more in line with low/mid grade discrete cards, which are far better than the APUs on the market push...but still, basically talking about a good laptop CPU/GPU.Can you elaborate on this a bit? Oh yes. Stupid Call of Doody sheeples, demanding their crappy American shooterbox consoles. How dare they choose to enjoy something while it's relevant.dsheinem wrote:noiseredux wrote:dsheinem wrote:I've preordered and am likely buying both next gen consoles on launch day, mostly so I can soak in all the abuse from people on this forum who consider early adoption of a console to be akin to treason lighting a cigar with hundred dollar bills.![]()
you just KNOW all those "I just passed by a bunch of brogamer idiots in line for the Xbone launch at Gamestop while playing Japanese imports on my screen-modded Game Gear. They DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IT WAS lulz! Such morons for having to have the "new thing." I yelled 'DRMsuxxorz, losers!' to them as I walked by" posts are coming...
I'm in the same boat as a few others. I have a PS4 preordered on Amazon but I'm not sure if I'm going to go through with it. I'll see how things look come November.
