MD connection question - help!

Post by Spyke »

Hi,

I'm looking at buying a Japanese Megadrive console and have one lined up.
The seller has sent some pics and it has the power in socket, the circular AV socket (into which my scart cable should go) and the EXT socket on the rear panel. However, it also shows a coaxial cable coming out of the centre of the rear panel!

Image

Is this normal?

Will the AV out socket still function?

I need to know urgently as I have to decide whether or not to buy...

Thanks! :)

That picture is so blurry it's hard to see what's going on. Ask the seller for a better picture.

Too late - LOL - it's gone now!
I didn't buy it. Seemed slightly ... "wrong" somehow.

Bought another one from a dealer in Japan which looks "right".

Thanks for advice though.

That's an RF cable coming out of it which is most definitely not stock. Some European importers back in the day would mod the system to output PAL video and (rather sloppily) add an internal RF modulator, with the cable running out of the screw hole on the back.
