I use a computer there and theres a program that tells the store cost of an item.

3DSXL cost the store $191 and change.

They are sold everywhere for $199

Eight bucks is shitty profit.

More money is definitely made on the software

Well, if software and hardware make the retailer about the same amount of profit, it's no wonder that retailers stop stocking old hardware before they stop stocking old games. I bet they'd rather not even carry the hardware when it's new if they could be guaranteed that they'd still sell the same amount of games.

Don't confuse the retailer's margins with the console manufacturer's margins. When the PS3 released I'm sure the retailers received the units from Sony at lower than MSRP, but that price was less than the manufacturing cost of a unit. So retailers made a profit on each PS3 sold, but Sony lost money.

I want to know how much the manufacturer makes. If they make $8 a game thats some good money. I mean can you imagine $8 on every COD , every Uncharted, every Halo...you get the idea..

But if the retailer makes $8 and the manufacturer gets $8 , and you pay up to uncle Sam , there is very little left for the poor developer/publisher .

I like how Nintendo is priced below cost but gets a profit once you buy a game, thats very smart. It makes a lot of sense than making profit ON the console and ON the game. You get to sell lower priced consoles(happier consumer) and larger install base (happier manufacturer+developer).

All new games and hardware really does is bring in customers, unless maybe you are moving crates of products and a large chain that may be getting a better cut (Wal-Mart for example might). But for most places having new systems and games really almost just costs money, there is no hiding why used merchandise is really needed to keep the market going. Without them it be hard to order in anything new!

That might help but people will really be missing out by skipping Nintendoland. NL is so much better than Wii Sports ever was. Oh well, I guess.
They could just pack in a download voucher in the bundle. The ZombiU bundle had NintendoLand included this way.

Just an FYI, the web browser supports YouTube, and better yet, lets you browse other websites on the gamepad while the video plays on the TV. So you might want to try that.

Don't worry, Wii U isn't the exception to the rule. Most of the Youtube apps that I've used are pretty crappy. Furthermore, a lot of content isn't available on the apps as well so you're better off just going to the website.

I can't comment on the wireless issue as mine doesn't have any problems similar to my other devices in the media room. They are also at some distance from the router.

It is true, even the youtube app on my android is garbage; with youtube being owned by Google there is no excuse for that. I ended up just making a link to the browser site on my home screen.

The WiiU does have issues with some Wirless routers though, I can't remember which ones so I'd google it. I believe you can use the Wii USB Ethernet adapter with it too.

I've seen some people have issues with their router, but I can't say I've had any problems. My downloads even go a little faster than my PS3 believe it or not. Yeah, just use YouTube from within the browser as well.
