What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Did you see this woman? Do you even know she's attractive?

Anyways, I can turn it around and bitch about how many chain stores hire men who know little to nothing of games. Do you know how many times flat out I've wanted to smack some of the goofs I've met at Gamestop?

And its a Gameboy. Unless its a micro, its probably just easier to buy a new one anyways. (And you did point out that it is an SP, which are highly abundant.)
I have actually been to the store before and seen the lady. Thank you. :D

I admit I overreacted but I still stand behind the fact that you shouldn't get hired at a video game store if you don't know about video games, regardless of your sex. This apply to all professions.

Hey hey come on now you only talked to her on the phone you have no idea if she's attractive. She might have gotten the job based on her sandwich making abilities.
good point.

Awww shit. Those game companies better get the fuck on the ball and make sure that the receptionist, janitors, and any in house fullfillment guys can either program or create art assets or they'd better GTFO!

That's taking a little far. If your in the customer service end of the business you should know what your selling. I don't know what your belittling me for. You should know what you sell, period.

I DO agree with this point, because this is a specialty/niche shop compared to others. If you are working at a game repair shop, you SHOULD know about repairing games, just like how for example, you call a mechanic telling the person what the issue with your car, and want to know if it might cost a lot. The person should be able to say, "Well it sounds like your fuel line is leaking, so it'll cost you x,"

You know how few places can do that about a car? Do you know how bad their ripping you off if they claim to? I'd be awful suspicious of any man who will claim to know whats wrong with my car before he looks at it. Either he's a lying bastard, or he's freaking amazing. And in the car business, the former is more likely.

She just answered the phone. They are job positions where you might need to answer the phone, but not necessarily know the business. Heard of a receptionist before?

Let me make this easier for you. It's a repair shop the specializes in video game repairs. It's not bigger the the average American's living room. With that said, your telling me It sounds like a good idea to hire some one who doesn't know what your selling? I'd agree with you had it been a huge warehouse for electronics but in this instance EVERYONE dealing with costumers needs to know what they sell.

I still think it's hilarious that you'd expect a game system repair shop in 2013 to have staff with knowledge and materials to repair a handheld that saw its final from factor released over a decade ago and which can no longer be purchased new at retail. Why should they know how to repair SPs? Training someone to repair them, researching their problems, ordering parts for one customer, etc. seems like a waste of time and resources when 99% of your customers are bringing in RRODs, YLODs, or cracked DS/3DS screens.
