Yeah, I love it too. It's a great zombie flick, and it's a great comedy at the same time; with a great 80s feel to it to boot. Long before Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland, too.

yup. I actually think that combining comedy and horror SUCCESSFULLY is very, very tricky. And way too many movies try (and fail). But ROTLD nails it so bad ass. Great soundtrack also.

Found Um Jammer Lammy for PS1, complete, black label version at Salvation Army for $3. Not a terrific deal, but I love finding retro games in the wild instead of buying them online. If I like this one I'll consider dropping the money on the more expensive Parrapa the Rappa.

Well, that ended poorly

I'm going to have to avoid the game stores altogether now until vacation.

Here are the pickups from this week.

Gamestop

The first picture is from the previous week, the second is from today. Gamestop sent me a 25% off coupon and dropped the price of Asura's Wrath, so it only cost me $15. And at $1 I felt I should pick up Samba Di Amigo before it got regulated to one of those little yellow sleeves the store is so fond of using.

Spent more in here than initially planned, but it's not often that I find complete Sega CD games in the wild (read: never), so I splurged a little bit. Two of them even have their hinges intact. I look forward to all of the corny dialogue I'm sure they contain.

Oh, and I'm a sucker for game guides. They flat price them here, so they're all under $3. Yay.

I hate those yellow EB stickers! I HATE THEM!!

One of my favorite games stores opened a new location, so I moseyed on over to see what they had. Turned out, they had quite a lot. Nomads, Game Gears, complete NES games, a copy of Little Samson...Most of it was too rich for my blood, but at least I found a couple things that have been on my list for a while and they let me hold Little Samson

Now I've just got to jimmy that Miracle Piano cord together (I've been procrastinating) and maybe I'll finally be able to learn a couple of tunes.

And last but not least, Kmart:

For $25 I suddenly found myself really needing to have a gold Pro controller to go with my gold Zelda controller. I was also tempted to get one of their Fling-Smash bundles. They've clearanced them to $29.99, which is $10 cheaper than the Plus controller would be by itself. I must resist.

I've slowly been trying to amass a collection of GC first party games. Today I went to a newly opened Play N' Trade in my area and they had Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (non best seller) complete and in near mint condition for $13.00. It was just sitting there in between a bunch of sports games. Cha-ching.

I've seen this game a few times in GS for $1.79 and never thought to pick it up. Is it really that bad?

In my experience with Gamestop it's usually the cheapest complete games that hit the chopping block first, especially in the smaller stores. Now, I've been to some that just throw all of them in the yellow sleeves in one go, but the store closest to me is a bit bigger and they're nice enough to condense the shelf space first before the games meet the "yellow sleeve fate." But from what I can tell, the pattern for throwing them in the sleeves usually is: Games without cases to begin with > Cheapest Games > All Games.

Of course, that will vary from store to store.

Basically, I'm just paranoid and planning ahead for the inevitable.

A few recent pick-ups...

Zeliard is one of the few Japanese DOS RPGs to be released in the West. Next on my wishlist is Knights of Xentar.

Inindo has been on my want list for some time, and I was lucky enough to find it at the local game store. I had never seen any Cover Project art before and I must say I'm quite impressed.

Yeah that's right - I'm collecting Didj games now. Think I should go for the complete CIB set? There are 15 games total.

I am doing the same thing. During the past few months, I have been hell-bent on acquiring all of the cheap Wii games on my want list. By this time next year, I predict it will be much harder to find them CIB.
