Together Retro: TMNT - Turtles In Time

If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.
Re: Together Retro: TMNT - Turtles In Time
Wooh! Actually remembered to bring my PSP to work tonight. I'll be emulating Turtles in Time on my lunch break. (Unfortunately, I forgot to charge my battery. So I might not get to play for very long)
Re: Together Retro: TMNT - Turtles In Time
My SNES copy is at the nephews' house right now, but I'm no stranger to emulation, so I may give it a go sometime this month (or take the game back as my nephews are enjoying a new Wii).
I usually pick Raph for some reason (might have something to do with him having the best special move in TMNT 3 for NES, which I used to play a lot, but he's also supposed to be faster).
Favorite move is a tie between the "wham bam" grapple and the somersault-to-slide.
A note about the Hyperstone Heist:
The slide move in that game is WAY better. The game maps a button for "run", so you can just fan the buttons (A, B, C) and your sliding fast and safely all over as your enemies fall down. It's one of the main edges the Genesis game has over the SNES (and the Genesis controller over most emulation alternatives).
I love the game just for that enhanced control option (and, for me, almost puts it on equal terms with the admittedly superior SNES Turtles in Time).
Turtles in Time was one (of very few) arcade(s) that I remember playing with a group of friends at a B-day party (must have been the year it came out). 4-player hack-n-slash was never so much fun (only rivaled by 6-player X-men back in the day). Having 2 bosses to fight on a couple levels was a nice touch. I don't even remember how I had so many tokens at our disposal, but we played the shit out of that game to completion.
Come to think of it, that was my 1st exposure to the game.
So ends my longer-than-intended post.

HH's run button and slide attack is my favorite part about it. It really speeds up the gameplay. While I usually turn to Turtles in Time if I'm playing with a friend I tend to pick Hyperstone Heist if I'm on my own.

Re: Together Retro: TMNT - Turtles In Time
Today the kids and I played this on the MAME cab.
My daughter and my youngest son started it (meaning I controlled her character and she button mashed). My oldest son and I took over for them in the past (Dinosaur level) and then they all bailed on the future hoverboard level leaving me to finish the game myself.
Needless to say we used tons of quarters - but we had a blast. I will tell you though at the end I was bored so I used Mikey as bait for the Shredder (since there were still over 100 lives for both players) and while he as beating on Mikey I attacked from the back.
A random question for those who have beat the game: there were two levels that my screen keep dimming in and out. I don't remember the first one, but the second one was Krang's space base. Is this normal or is my monitor dying?

Re: Together Retro: TMNT - Turtles In Time
The mode 7 in the SNES game were pretty amazing back in the day. I remember reading EGM articles for this and Street Fighter II and drooling over the screen shots. That was when I realized the SNES was going to be a real arcade port powerhouse. I was shocked at how good the screen shots were. Even Fight Fight when it came out without Guy or co-op, it was still amazing to see such a good looking arcade port far beyond what we were getting on the Genesis at the time. Althought Sega would impress the hell out of me with the graphics they pumped out in Streets of Rage 2, but i'm getting off topic
I used Leo again, Raph is my second fave for this game. I love the pirate level still, and getting to fight Bebop and Rocksteady. Still hilarious when they ram into each other. No big loss that they took out Tokka and Razor since they are in the Technodrome level. Did you guys all know you can keep hitting Razor after he is beaten and in his puppy form? When I was a kid I thought it was funny the little yelps he makes if you do.
Awesome music in this game, especially the Neon Nightriders level. This is one of those games you could give me on a desert island. I can play it to death.

Correction: I meant when Bebop and Rocksteady get their weapons tangled. Getting things mixed up in my head with their appearance in the original game

Re: Together Retro: TMNT - Turtles In Time
Added a few buds to my friends list since this popped up this month. I'm on vacation after tomorrow so there a good chance of getting a quick game going.
I have my message pop ups on xbl disabled so I may miss an invite, so I might as well give some of you guys my cell #. lol
Also thinking of getting Dragons Crown for PS3 but my budget has been tight lately moving into a house from a 2 bed room apt, and Killer is Dead has my money so Ill see if I can swing that too.

Re: Together Retro: TMNT - Turtles In Time
I manage to have a playthru with Ninjainspandex last night!
Also had my daughter join the mix, then the wife who took over for her (bedtime). I had tons of fun just chatting it up with Ninja and brawling the Foot Clan aimlessly!!
Made it thru atleast and Ninja got a few achievements.
