I have beaten the game around 3 times now and I still enjoy it every step of the way. I just bought the arcade port that came to the TG-16 and I am so eager for it to get here. I would highly reccommend Splatterhouse to anyone who is looking to get into an extremely bloody, witty, and all around fun hack n' slash game with a good storyline.
man, I thought the new Splatterhouse game was absolutely abysmal, especially compared to the series' other stellar entries. I didn't even play it through to the end, and I try to finish almost everything I pick up.

I liked the new Splatterhouse... but I never finished it either. Maybe I should.

did you play the 3DS version? I thought it was the definition of mediocre.
I played the Wii version. Apparently the two are very different.
Second.

I was shocked at how damn good Centipede: Infestation for wii is. The doofus at gamestop actually tried to dissuade me from buying this game. He told me that retro gamers would hate Centipede: Infestation.

The surprise is that this game has very little in common with the original Centipede. It actually plays more like Berzerk with a bunch of references to old Atari games. The love story is pretty lame, but I love the witty references like, "My Father was in the Missile Command. He protected us from Space Invaders".

Awesome game.

That must have healed an almost lethal wound

Man, you can unlock splatterhouse 1,2,3 on the new splatterhouse and it is the Arcade versions no?
If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

This is the game's only redeeming quality, to my mind.

Positive Surprise: Jackie Chan's Action Kung-Fu on NES
I got it with a free grab bag of games from a friend during High School, there were a lot of gems in there, actually. I was completely blown away by the quality of this game. Seriously top notch.

Negative Surprise: Parasite Eve II on PS1
I loved the shit out of Parasite Eve, when I saw this came out at Hollywood Video, I immediately rented it. I couldn't wait to get home and throw it in ... and holy shit was I pissed off. I don't know if you can say it's a poor quality game ... but it completely destroys the unique combat systems the first game had in favor of a really mediocre Survival Horror scheme. I was not a fan.
