I hate when parents call their daughters princess. Can't stand it.
My Dad is trying to convince me that I should quit worrying about a new vehicle until he can finish paying off his loan, and that he'll buy me one afterward. I don't know how I feel about that honestly. I like the idea, but how long it has taken him to pay off his current loan makes me wary that I'll be putting a burden on his back that he doesn't need.

Do you have a job of your own? If you do, I'd save up about $3,000, buy a decent late-90s/early-00s model car like a Ford Taurus or Mercury Tracer, and not include your family in the process. It's your car, after all.
But if you don't have an income of your own and your family is footing the bill, then you're stuck with whatever they want to do.

Well, my dad will let me get what I want, and a late 90's model early 00's is far from it.BoringSupreez wrote:Do you have a job of your own? However, I shop conservatively considering my tastes. The main issue is that my mom has a certain amount of control over what I buy, but not over what my dad buys, you see. For example, I found an $800 truck on craigslist, that needs nothing more than to have some brake booster work, and have all the plug wires replaced. Brand new motor. The body is straight, needs paint though.
No job though, and its killing me in so many ways. I can't find anywhere around here, and even if I did, I'm not sure how well I could work a normal schedule when I take FFA and all the related responsibilities into account.

I know that feel. It took an entire year of searching before I found my first job. In this economy it's hard to get a job with no resume to speak of, and it's hard to build a resume with no job. It's a vicious cycle.Forlorn Drifter wrote:No job though, and its killing me in so many ways. When you do get an offer, don't be afraid to ditch FFA and any other extra school-related activities. Having a job is more important than everything except your basic schooling. I have a friend who can't get a job doing anything besides the occasional babysitting because she won't push high school band stuff out of the way.

Well, I can't ditch FFA for two reasons:BoringSupreez wrote:I know that feel. It took an entire year of searching before I found my first job. 1. I'm FFA President of our Chapter this year.
2. The more active I am, the more scholarships I can net. FFA, in Texas, is a huge source of scholarships, and the more active you are the better. One of the current state officers, who went to a high school close to mine and I know personally, managed to net $50,000+ in scholarships, and most of her activity was in the political side of FFA, which is usually viewed as lesser in scholarship views. She also didn't net the most out of the recipients in Texas FFA.
And since my mom and pretty much everybody except my dad and I are convinced I'll die in poverty if I don't go to college, I need that money.

Fucking insomnia/gamer lifestyle. It's 8:30 am, my head hurts, my eyes are sore and I can't get any sleep so I'm going back and forth between youtube, 3DS, this forum and playing the PC

I decided to pop a few of those sour bastards, albeit one at a time, and instead of just gnawing those fuckers to death, yours truly got the brilliant idea to suck on them. And part of that "brilliant idea", involved pressing them against the roof of my mouth with my tongue and letting them soften up before I just swallow them. Now I've got a smooth patch of tongue burn where some of my taste buds should be.

Now now, maybe he'll get a nice professor job like Dave has.If you don't plan on studying a hard science/something practical, you're more likely to end up being poor by going to college than by skipping it.Forlorn Drifter wrote: And since my mom and pretty much everybody except my dad and I are convinced I'll die in poverty if I don't go to college, I need that money.

I just finished Max Payne 3 and I'm really disappointed. It almost doesn't even feel like a Max Payne game to me at all now that I think about it. I am excited for gta 5 more so then I was before though.
Why I'm disappoint below, it is spoilered for a reason.
Edit: I thought I was in another thread. I need more sleep.
