I love how it feels like most of the identity problems with the Wii U start with its name. Xbox One is a dumb name, but at least it disconnects it from the 360.

I feel like if their first party releases are going to trickle so slowly, why not just keep releasing 30c VC games. It has kept me using my Wii U and kept me feeling positive towards Nintendo for the 'free' games.

Bundles do not count in my definition unless its higher priced like $200 WIi+ $60 Game= $240 , $20 off for the bundle special price. Ill accept that , but if the Wii was $200 , and it was still $200 with Kart Shipped... I am sorry that does not count as a sale for me. Thats give away.

@dsheinem

I Know its odd, but it is only odd in this rare case where "34m" Mario Karts have been sold , the highest numbers for a Kart on a console before this was the 64 at 10m , so I really would like how did Nintendo got 24m new fans... I'll accept the number but I have to say, they got lucky with it. I would accept it too if Kart was significantly better like how the 64 version was very different from the SNES , but in this case and IMHO the gamecube version was a lot more fun.

Sure there are 8 or 9 COD , but here we arguing commercial success. If that was out of the discussion , then we wouldn't have to worry about the Wii U's position as long as the games you/we want are out. We are looking where are gamers are spending their $$$ thats why we were counting the units sold int he first place and thats why everyone is disappointed by the Wii U's 4m or so total units sold.

I think its unfair to count Mario Kart's sale not considering the huge install base due to the very low price of the console, which I think the ps3 price TODAY still didn't reach $250 which was the Wii's at launch. But I will not use that argument because we were arguing commercial success and as long as Nintendo made money on each unit sold, its fair to count it in this case.

@FerretGamer @noiserdux @ZenErik

I personally think the GameCube library is great, way way better than the Wii(I played more gamecube games on my Wii than Wii games) , but I just do not understand why the extremely low sales. I can't comment because I didn't follow that generation , I know the ps2 was the better console but at 20m for a console that has been out for 5 years is just kind of sad...

As far as for identity goes, look at that target ad. Look at Mario. Would you think that this is a release on a new console? Doesn't it look exactly the same as the on on the Wii? Mario, Kart, Donkey Kong, its all same same same people can't tell the difference , the console looks the same, you use the same controllers, it even has the Miis . I think there is VERY little for people to make the jump to the Wii U, dont you think?

As for noiserdeus believing the 34m figure , I see where you are coming from but I am not sure if you realize how huge that number is. 34m is more than the population of Denmark, Norway, Ireland, Switzerland, and Belgium combined. Can you imagine EVERY citizen of those countries bought a Mario Kart? thats how much 34 million is!! We are not talking about cell phones here which is a common tool today.
Your 1 out of 3 explanation too works with common things like 1 out of every 3 people gets married. But can you imagine 1 out of 3 Americans bought a Mario Kart? If you go to the streets and count for every 2 people you see the 3rd owns a copy of Mario Kart you will see how big that number is. Btw, you can literally do this in the Philippines since their population is a 100m, and it will reflect exact sales of how many Karts sold to the Wii units.

But we are not talking about 1 out of 3 Americans or people you see on the street, or even a random 100Million people, We are talking about 1 out of 3 of the 100 million Wii owners. It's actually not up for debate because the figures are there.

If Nintendo were going to fabricate their figures, don't you think they would be doing it now? :lol:
