X1: Ryse , Quantum Break , Forza, Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct, Halo 5, Titan Fall,
Historically they've competed against those titles VERY well. Usually by wiping the floor with them.

Compare:
Wii: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_be ... ideo_games
PS3: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_be ... yStation_3
360: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_be ... s#Xbox_360

This is why a large install base is so important to Nintendo. Almost everyone who buys their systems buys a lot of exclusives. Without that base, developing a new Mario Kart or Zelda is a much riskier financial commitment.

tldr: Super Mario Galaxy sold more than the entire Uncharted series combined and Mario Kart sold more than all the mainline Halo 360 games combined.

I actually didn't realize this.

I just wanted some clarification on what that meant. English, please.

I'd also rather not turn this into the whole "casual" and "hardcore" conversation. That being said, from my point of view Call of Duty has turned into the largest "casual" game out there.

Tried a demo of Lego City Undercover at a store. I know it sounds silly, but if a game gets me to buy a Wii U sometime in the next 2 years (aka when I get a proper job), it's going to be this one (along with X, but that is probably going to take more than 2 years to come out in Europe).

I don't care if it won't get major 3rd party releases. Those are coming to the PC too there days, and I don't play that many modern games anymore anyway (2-3 a year), and the Wii U will probably get more than 2-3 games a year that I want

been meaning to ask: how does this work? I mean - does every game support it? And what's the range like? Can you have the console in one room and the handheld in another?

No every game does not support it, because some games use the combination of both.
Every Wii U VC title works with it.

List of games.

I can only talk from my own experience. But I use my Wii U gamepad in bed sometimes while my girlfriend is reading before bed. It is 2 rooms away (in a brick house) and does not lag up or have any connection issues at that distance. I can't play in the backyard or anything, but it all depends on the walls of your house really.

If you jump on youtube, people in two story houses report being able to play pretty much anywhere.

Roo covers it a bit in his 'How the Wii U gamepad works' video.

To build on what emwearz said, I get about 30 feet in my house through walls. So if I leave the console in my living room I can play it on the back porch in the hammock.

a) I want a hammock
b) I want to play my Wii U in said hammock.

I saw an article about better official WiiU gamepad batteries a few months back. Wonder when they are actually being released. I don't remember the specifics, but it sounded like they would greatly enhance the battery life on the WiiU.

Would also be cool if we could use the 3DS for WiiU offscreen. Same setup. That would get me more pumped for the WiiU. Guess we'll see how well the Vita offscreen play works with the PS4..

It is out in Japan, it takes the gamepad from 3 to 5 hours to a 5 to 8 hours. It’s capacity is increased to 2550mAh, up from a mere 1500mAh.

To have a similar button setup to the Wii U it would need to have the circle pad pro plugged in, also the Wii U gamepad is widescreen. Don't see it ever really working.

A piece of good news for once in this thread, by the end of the year you will be able to purchase e-shop titles from your PC.
