Yeah, I spent over twelve hours walking around aimlessly in a cold ass city I knew nothing about, but it was worth it because I got to see NIN live. First and last concert I've ever been to and completely worth it. Still pisses me off though.
Which live iteration of NIN? The one with Twiggy?

not my thought, but one that I'll share from an unnamed but veteran game designer:

"Obviously the holy grail is the holodeck. Virtual reality is a big thing, and there's the creativity of new game paradigms, and I guess we have seen this huge explosion with touch screens. But really, we have these huge high resolution screens now and it's amazing how 98% of all innovation goes to create more eye candy. The game really doesn't change; it's like Madden. Madden is kind of a paradigm for the whole industry: “it's still fucking football, it's still eleven guys, they just look better.” In some ways we’re doing that. We're all, like any entertainment medium, telling stories trying to make that the same old story cool. The creative side of things hasn't really caught up. We're all still just making the same old fucking game."

I kinda felt this way about the whole generation. Ignoring visuals, very few (if any) games have come out that wouldn't have been doable on the Ps2.

Yeah, and all the games that were done could have been done on PS1. I don't get that point at all. Video games are technological based, to say "ignoring visuals" all the games could have been done on lesser platforms makes little sense.

GTA4 could have been on PS2, if we made it worse of course!

Atari 2600 has a lot of example of what you're saying. Double Dragon on the Atari 2600 anyone?

Ps2 had a lot of stuff that really wouldn't work on the Ps1's hardware. Pretty much any game that was 3rd person open world, for example.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that the extra power in the Ps2 was used to create game experiences that weren't possible on its predecessor. I haven't really felt that way on the Ps3.

I get what you're saying, but that's not always true. I don't think Far Cry 3 would have been possible on last-gen's hardware, or at least it wouldn't have been anywhere near as good as it was. 99% of the FPS's, sports games, and platformers could have run on PS2 but the open-world games would suffer quite a bit.

I honestly feel like the processing and networking jump between the PS2/PS3 is actually less than PS3/PS4. To give an example, PlanetSide 2 is simply not possible on the PS3. Too many entities and projectile calculations. The game and world is massive. The draw distance has to be massive. It just wouldn't work. It will be on PS4 however, and it definitely is a new experience to other FPS games.

There's probably a lot to be said for online play that the PS2 would have struggled to provide the overhead for.

Geoff & Tim Follin (of Software Creations fame) know how to rock a commercial jingle in Super Off Road (SNES)

Toyota commercial music that is played on the truck customization screen

I got this game Christmas of 1992 (along with Super Mario Kart!) and I pulled myself away long enough from that to play this and know this music right away. It was a happy memory.
