yeah i've been steadily rolling my eyes at the spirited debate happening on slipknot's merits as an artistic force to be reckoned with.

anyway, i'm going to see havok next week, anyone else catching any of their shows? black sabbath is the week after that. pretty psyched for that also.

I think we don't need to discuss Slipknot's hip-hop influence any more

I've never really known too much about Slipknot other than hearing some of the songs that would get spammed on the radio, but I've always just kind of assumed they were terrible/a joke. This is even worse than I imagined though.

Did people (kids) really ever consider that "extreme music"??? It's so clean and sterile and middle-of-the-road.

But enough about nu metal. Any of you guys like death metal?

Just because I own Severed Survival on vinyl doesn't mean anything!

My friend's going to see Sabbath.

Setlist I've seen around online is a tad disappointing. Nothing from Sabbath Bloody Sabbath or Sabotage. :(

I can appreciate metal. I'm just not a big fan. Actually, I love documentaries on metal for some reason. I've watched Before the Light Takes Us (that's what it's called right?) and that uh, A Headbanger's Journey (I think that's what it's called, haha?) and a few others (titles escape me as well) countless times. I guess I enjoy the history and artistry a lot more than the music.

I also don't really know a lot of the classifications of sub-genres enough to discuss anything. Besides Korn and (sigh) 'nu-metal' there's certainly bands I'm a fan of that fall somewhere within the metal umbrella though: Melvins, Boris, The Sword, System of a Down (maybe?), uh... Danzig? Maybe? I don't know. I love the Deftones. I feel like they get grouped in w/ metal stuff... sometimes?

I do agree that Slipknot sucks.

You're thinking of Until the Light Takes Us, which is a translation of Hvis lyset tar oss - the third Burzum album.

I do like Boris a bit. Especially the Pink album.
