Can I have some DS recommendations?

Post by Menegrothx »

I know very little of the DS game library and got into DS collecting last week. So far I only have a handful of games. I'm mainly intrested in RPGs, tactics/strategy games, platformers and games that utilize the DS touch screen well that aren't casual shovelware.
So far I have:
Dark Spire, Etrian Odyssey III, Knights in the Nightmare, Sonic Rush, Orcs&Elves and Anno 1701: Dawn of Discovery.
On my list of games to get:
Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command (Should I get this on DS or PSP?)
All the Shin Megami Tensei series games
Dementium the Ward 1&2
The World ends with you
Radiant Historia
The castlevania games

I'm aware of the more popular stuff (Kirby, Mario, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Phoenix Wright, Professor Layton etc) so I'm hoping for recommendations for hidden gems and stuff that gets easily overlooked
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Well, the best place to start is to go to this link below
http://vsrecommendedgames.wikia.com/wiki/Nintendo_DS

It's a good starting list to look into for DS games you should look into.

Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ is an amazing hidden gem on the DS. I reviewed it here on the boards a few years ago if you want to see what its all about.

there must be like 3-5 threads on this topic in the last year or so. Here's one: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... lit=top+ds

Search.

Whoa!

Just play Knights In The Nightmare. You may never want to play anything else again. Worry about the next games later if you happen to recover.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about /v/'s recommended games wiki. And Zombie BBQ looks kinda neat

But they're not genre specific 8) And why else would any one make a recommendation thread unless the person in question was too lazy to do their own research?

The most creative uses of the stylus and DS capabilities in general for me were the CiNG games. I'm talking about Hotel Dusk, Last Window, and Trace Memory (can't vouch for Again as I've not played it yet).

Outside of those, Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword, Okamiden, Trauma Center, and Kirby Canvas Curse all used the touch screen to great effect.

But all of that is just scraping the surface, the DS' library is truly a beast. If nothing else though play Hotel Dusk, personally I found it to be utterly amazing.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

wtf no posted saying Phoenix Wright or Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective?
They may have IOS ports and Phoenix has WiiWare, but still. Not to be missed.
