I just saw Pacific Rim, very very awesome movie. I highly recommend it.

I've seen twenty-three of those. My favorite from that list is A Face In The Crowd, which everyone here should see if you haven't already. If you only know Andy Griffith as Sheriff Taylor or Matlock, prepare to be amazed.

Questionable Kubrick and Kurosawa choices.
Paths of Glory and Spartacus are good, but they definitely wouldn't be anywhere near what I would consider to be his best work or top 3 material.
And for some reason I don't like Ran on there for Kurosawa. I'm guessing it's on there for its historical relevance, but to have it on there over Seven Samurai, or any of his 50s movies for that matter? No way.

Agreed in all aspects.brunoafh wrote:And for some reason I don't like Ran on there for Kurosawa. I'm guessing it's on there for its historical relevance, but to have it on there over Seven Samurai, or any of his 50s movies for that matter? No way.
From the list I have seen 50. And 10 of the others are in my queue to watch soon.

That's somewhat of an odd list. I've seen 2/3 or better of them, but I agree that there are some questionable choices within the ones I've seen.

I've seen 51 of them...they are all goo films, but I would have chosen different ones. It is OK, though; he is allowed to have different tastes.

I found it pretty enjoyable up till the last 15 minutes or so. I find the ending wholly disagreeable philosophically.. Still it remains a solid addition to any scifi enthusiast's library.

Not one John Hughes nor Oliver Stone movie on Lee's list. Shame.

I forgot to mention a lot in my Smile/Ticked thread. We saw some filming of JUPITER ASCENDING on LaSalle on our visit, but it was so dull and boring (at least when we were there) so we left after a brief stop. Seeing Transformers being filmed however was bonkers, but that was in 2010.

Did you end up seeing this Dave? I saw it earlier this week and thought it was really enjoyable. Doesn't overthink things and I thought several of the actions sequences were done really well. I may have to re-watch W:O, because Jackman really is a stellar Logan.dsheinem wrote:That's pretty much the state of thingsLuke wrote:So you want to see a movie you don't expect to like that you hope you do like? I also spent $2 at the cheap-o theater in Palm Springs to watch AFTER EARTH. Bearing in mind the price I spent, this isn't too bad. Shyamalan is truly a terrible director and that shows in this movie, but there are some poignant father/son moments between Will Smith and Jayden. Jayden is also pretty much awful in this movie, but again has some moments here and there. Not a bad rental IMO.
Half-watched DARK SHADOWS and SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD. SHADOWS seemed to have some funny moments and was nice to kind of half watch in the background. SEEKING seems really good in that Steve Carell indie picture way, I liked what I saw and thought that the two leads did a great job.
