The Wonderful 101 and Wind Waker HD are the only definites for me. Sonic I would consider if the 3DS version is no good. Batman I would likely get on PS3 if I get it.

I was primarily talking about this year and wasn't really thinking about digital stuff. I'll probably get Duck Tales as well. 8)

Sonic Lost Worlds and Super Luigi U are the most attractive games for the Wii-U this year to me.

Now these:

Yes they are going the way of the dodo because of cellphone cameras.

But the thing is, on my trips at first I was happy to use a cheap camera or my cell phone camera to take pictures. But the more I get into photography and the more trips I go to, the more I want a SLR camera to be able to take decent pictures. They cost more but they are worth the investment for someone who wants more, like me.

So imo once people who get addicted to getting a small gaming fix on their smartphones, will probably want something more. And they can find that more on the 3DS.

What we won't see again, are the days where crappy cheap to make software sells full price like those sudoku games on the DS. If the developers want the money and attention of consumers then they must make games that are worth their money.

And imo the 3DS is delivering on that part.
I find it really funny that gamers seem to think this. Like I remember people used to say the DS blew smart phones out the water, when smartphones are not only so much more powerful but have a much more vast library. I look at my iPhone 4 which can compete with the 3DS and I think to myself, why on earth does the original DS get so much credit when the iPhone is completely disrespected?

Like I don't really get where this stereotype that games like Angry Birds is all Smartphones are good for (which there is nothing wrong with games like Plants vs Zombies and Doodlejump, if anything retro gamers should find them appealing given that they are single screenesque arcade games).

I just recently got The Walking Dead: The Game and X-Com Enemy Unknown, both which were heavily considered to be the best games of 2012 for the Iphone. They are almost perfect ports, they're probably better or as good as any game you could find on the 3DS. So I don't get the whole casual game argument, mobile device games are growing at a very fast rate.

Comparing a handheld console to a camera is an apples and orange argument.

Wii U games I'm absolutely buying ...

Pikmin 3
New Super Luigi U (Have the physical version pre-ordered with some card points)
Super Mario 3D World
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze
Wonderful 101
Sonic the Lost World
Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON'T KNOW!
Rayman Legends
Scribblenauts Unmasked
LEGO Marvel
Wii Party U
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD

as well as DuckTales. That special PS3 edition is tempting, though.

The question with these games is ... if I'll actually buy them this year ... chances are ... not most of them. I'm not paying $60 for a Lego mixed franchise game. And I doubt I'll be paying $60 for Rayman or Sonic.

So it's a matter of when ... but I will absolutely be owning these for Wii U ... sometime.

They aren't DSLR badass. There's a reason these cameras cost as much (if not quite a bit more) as an entire smartphone itself.
They are getting there though. To say a quick story, last year my little brother was doing a video shoot for a a big farm vehicle manufacturing company. During the course of the day, even though he was only doing video, he snapped a couple pictures on his iphone. The actual photographer for it was in his 60s and that night passed away in his sleep (had a heart attack). His wife sold everything his husband used for work and my brother and his boss found this out a month later. So the client wanted a picture for an ad campaign in South America and asked if my brother had anything. So his picture from his cellphone ended up being used in a big print ad campaign. Its not like it wasnt a good picture (he is a skilled photographer after all), or that it couldnt have been better with a real camera, but it was good enough for a major ad campaign.

Granted it is the skill of the photographer over the type of the camera. I use a Lumix GH1, which is considered a toy camera by most pro photographers, but it still puts out a decent picture, even with a 400mm OM lens with a 2x teleconverter on it (so its like shooting with a 1600mm).

We should roll photography into its own topic on Offtopic.

BUT to get back on topic:
This year I am getting:
Windwaker Wiiu
New Super Mario U
New Super Luigi U
Super Mario 3D World
And another Wiimote Plus (and two wiimotes for my spare Wii).

The next trick is convincing the wife we need all of these and the Zelda books. If we only get two it will be Windwaker and LuigiU - I am sure that Luigi U retail will be rare in the future.

Pretty sad, but UK supermarket behemoth, Asda, has announced they will cease to stock the Wii U console and Wii U games. Of course speculation is that its due to poor sales.

^Has Nintendo ever done well in the UK?

I'll most likely purchase Art Academy: Sketch Pad also. Looks neat.
